If you somehow became both immortal and invulnerable, would you continue to worship your god(s).
Lets say there was some freak biochemical accident that cause a bit of magic normally reserved for hollywood and you became immortal and invulnerable (IE You cannot ever die). And lets just say for the sake of arguement that if there is a story of an end of the world ascension in your religion, that it will not happen for those who are immortal and invulnerable.
So even if your deity(s) do exist, you will never see them. There will never be an afterlife for you. There would also be no chance of you ever going to any sort of hell.
Would you continue to adhere to your faith?
To me it seems like at that point there would be no reason to continue in your faith because it does not apply to you. But I'd like to hear what you think.

For those of you who want to attack me on this.
I am not trying to lead anyone away from their faith. This is merely a philisophical question. All I am asking is would you continue to follow your faith if the idea of an afterlife is completely removed for you.

Sorry, I forgot to be more specific. This question wouldn't really hold any relevance for any religion that does not hold strong valuation in life after death.

The short answer is yes. Because the laws would be just and right. He would also still be worthy of worship and honor because I owe my original existence to Him, and because of him "all this live and move and exist."
PS: I agree with you. No need for attacks. I actually thinks it's a VERY interesting question. In other words are we in it because God is stronger than us or out of love for the God we worship. Very thoughtful.
After giving it a little more thought, I think you're asking the flip side of what Satan accused humans of. He claimed that Job worshipped God, not out of love, but because God given Job everything he had. Essentially he said "take away your protection and see if he will not curse you to your very face." You're asking, will humans still worship God if they didn't NEED his protection.

Err...you assume all theists are of the Christian bent. I'm an Asatruar.
In my belief, not even the Gods themselves are immortal and invulnerable. My Gods and Goddesses manifest themselves in Nature, so in a manner of speaking I do see them already. The Afterlife is not much a big deal for me, I focus more on the here and now not the hereafter. The fullfillment I get out of my faith isn't based on reward of the some afterlife.
To answer your question: Yes I would still adhere to my faith. I think you will find this is true with EVERY faith. No one would give theirs up if they were immortal.
Good question by the way.

The God of the universe loves each and Ev ery soul more than we could imagine. No matter what Hollywood miracle happened I would never want to move away from that awesome love that my maker has for my soul. His word says He knew us before time began. I would have every reason to continue with my faith no matter what. Being immortal and invulnerable sound a lot like what Lucifer was planning on to me, but the Bible tells that in the end He will meet a demise.

Well, interesting question.
The Christian faith teaches that all of creation has been corrupted as a result of the fall. Truly, look around, and the evidence of that is everywhere.
So, yeah, I'd still have it, because Christ redeems all of it. That is, He turns is back to what it is supposed to be.
So
1. I'd want to exist eternally in the New Heaven / New Earth (I think alot of people don't understand this, but the actual ground you walk on today, is going to be transformed when he returns. That is the Christian Faith, though.
2. I'd much rather opt for Eternal Life in Christ, than just eternal life on my own.

Well, considering the few beliefs I do have tend toward the soul being 'immortal and invulnerable' anyway, I guess I wouldn't have to change too much.
And I don't think any kind of hell exists, except for the kind people create themselves.
But then, I am not your average theist. I used to consider myself Pagan, but anymore I don't even fall into that category.

So basically, if we were like the cheerleader on Hero's, we'd be considering immortal, and you figure that means we'd live forever. If the world blew up, we'd just be floating out there in space then, huh? No thanks, I think that would be incredibly boring. Also, being immortal would not make anyone a god, so being a religious person, I'd still be a religious person, who'd be asking God to save from floating eternally around in space.

Teach and exhort people about these things. If anyone teaches differently and does not agree to the sound precepts of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah and to the doctrine that is in keeping with godliness, he is swollen with conceit and understands nothing. Instead, he has a morbid desire for controversies and word battles, out of which come jealousy, dissension, insults, evil suspicions, and constant wrangling amoung people whose minds no longer function properly, and who have been deprived of the truth, so that they imagine that religion is a road to riches.

They say we humans only use 10% of our brain, if I had an eternity to live I would figure out how to use the other 90%. I'd be able to study everything, on all continents, in every language, in all cultures, with all possibility of achieving complete understanding of each subject studied, on my own time.

Yes, I'd continue on in my faith. Just because I'll never get to see God, doesn't mean I should just forget him. (am i going to still age? cause that is creepy, actually look like I'm 2 million)

I am immortal... I will never die... no one of The True Christian Faith will... but we are all subject to the Will of Our God... for all of eternity.... you will die if you continue the path you have chosen... death is eternal seperation from God.. that is not going to be good for you... you did know that you also are immortal did'nt you?
