We have lived in our apt. for the past 25 years. We now have a neighbor from hell. 1. Called the fire company, ambulance and apt. manager to report that we are using"strong chemicals" in our apt. and causing her to have an asthma attack. 2. The apt. manager investigates us for these chemicals. 3. She has recently started to run the vacuum cleaner in the wee hours of the morning which of course wakes us up.4. Curses, screams and threatens her daughter constantly 6. Recently on of our neighbors witnessed her beating up her 16 year old daughter. 7. 3 nights ago they woke up the neighborhood with a screaming fight in the front yard. 8. She slams the door 20 times a day so hard that things are falling off of our walls and our windows shake. Our problem is that we have been to the manager and she immediately went to our neighbor and reported it which made matters 10 times worse. I really like our apt. manager as a person but this has gotten out of hand. How do we handle this crazy woman.

I had some crazy neighbors in an apartment once, not nearly as bad as what you have described though. I would go to the office and ask the manager for the phone number of their corporate offices and tell her that if she can't resolve this situation you will speak with her supervisor. Remind her of your seniority with this property and that you have followed the rules while trying to resolve this situation but that your patience is wearing thin. I'm telling you this worked beautifully for me when I was going through something like this. Once I asked for the corporate office number the crazy neighbors were gone by the end of the week. Good luck.

This is a terrible and infair situation for you. We had neighbours like this and found it hard to get anywhere. Like the above stated, you should defeniatly make reports on paper or video tape. Call the manager and tell her you are talking in confidence and that if she continues to let it happen or simply goes to this person with the info that you will get the authorities involved. If this does nothing, call the police and be a pain in there butts! Call everytime you can and they will get tired of it and finally do something about it!!! We had to do this and the manager actually evicted the people when she was confronted with the police a few times. Some people don't care about others at all; also remind the manager how long you've been there and that moving would cause them more problems with others like this. If you must confront this woman in person be careful what you say as these people are trouble makers. But if you suspect abuse it is completely within your realm to inolve the police. Good Luck.

Oh my can I relate to you! 25 years in an apt. though?? That's a long time!

I also have a neighbor from hell. She's 23 with two kids under the age of three. Her Mom lives downstairs (grandma) and the daughter and the kids live upstairs so they are constantly up the stairs, down the stairs, screaming, slamming doors, yelling, etc. One day, I was doing laundry, and the little boy, who is three, came downstairs in just a diaper. His Mom didn't even know that he left their apartment as we are in a security locked building with the laundry room in the basement. I knocked on Grandma's door....no answer....I knocked on his Mom's door upstairs....no answer. I finally wrapped him in a blanket, brought him inside, and called the police.

That's all you can do hon....keep calling the police, keep reporting incidences to your apartment manager and especially the owner of the complex that you live in. I like the previous answer of tape recording it too....heck, a camcorder would be great; however, you'd have to do it annonymously and then turn it in. Good Luck!

I dealt with one of these people in apt. building and it was awful. If she is causing harm to her daughter then you need to report it to the police and or social service. Recording it is a good idea. I was able to move from the situation because sometimes that is the only thing you can do. You always seem to have less rights when you are in the right in these situations. These peopl obviously have a lot of problems so trying to reason with them is not a option.
Move if you can or talk to you manager which again might make it worse.

If matters doesn't get better then the best sol'n is to move. Have you heard of the policy 3 times and your out? If that rule doesn't exist then your not going to have any peace. My husband is a courtesy officer. Depending on the situation he will call 911.

video tape it. all of it. The nosie at 4am and the doors being slammed, the fighting and yelling. Then take it to the manger, and keep doing it. With that kind of proof they'll be gone in 30 days.
