I am looking for my God-mother. But I don't know her social, and she has married several times so I'm not certain of her last name. All I know is where she was born, her mother's name, that she had an adopted daughter, and that up until '99 she lived just outside of Oakland in California.
If someone could help I would be very appreciative. Even if someone could tell me how to find out if she's deceased. Right now I'm trying to do it without having to pay but if that's my only option then give me a listing of "no bull" sites.

You can try Zabasearch.com, but without knowing what names she's used, it's a crap shoot.

Try the social security death records. You can access this through familysearch.org

Try posting ads on Craigslist.org. It's free and it can't hurt.

And just try googling all the names you know. Who knows what will pop up.

You're going to have a tough time. If she's still alive, it might be near impossible because California is becoming more aggressive in protecting people's information (identity theft).

If she's deceased, you can try applying for a death certificate using her maiden name. That might help.

The only other thing I can think of is to start talking to people who were around when you were younger who might know something about her.

If U know her full name and her last known address U might be able to find her through the Mormon sites. They have one of the most exhaustive search sites available anywhere. You have to go to their church and ask where there genealogy room is but if they have one there then you can use it for free.!
If they do not have one then they can put you in touch with one. they are very friendly and they will " not " approach U with trying to join with them. They are really kind and my wife has used them on occasion.
So give them a try, U never know.!?

If you send me her information and EVERYTHING you know about maiden name and other married names through my profile I'd be happy to see if I can help you.
