Screaming "OUCH!" or "YIPE!" may seem totally bizarre to people around you, but it's a very effective way to stop the nipping. After you scream, leave the room. Puppy learns "Wow, if I put any teeth on human skin, the game's over!" - and you didn't have to hurt your dog to get the message across. Good for you for rescuing a dog! A chihuahua/terrier sounds like a lot of fun.

Im a fan of the ouch and leave the room method. Ive had the best results when I offer the dog a toy when I return and give positive attention when he plays with it instead of going for fingers again.

in a stern voice say "OUCH" "NO BITE"....shouldn't take long to get the hang of it.....I'd imagine it's a very playful dog....don't allow it to bite even when your playing with it...doesn't know the difference when your playing and when your not.....
