My sister is going to NYC for the weekend with some people she works with (all over 21) and is BEGGING to borrow my ID (I'm 23, she's two weeks shy of 21). We don't look that much alike, so that worries me, but mostly I just worry that something would happen to her and it would be MY fault! What are the chances of her pulling this off? I feel like a heel for not giving it to her, since she will be the only one in the group underage, but my motherly/sisterly instinicts are telling me not to do it. Am I justified? Does anyone have any scary "i borrowed my friends id" stories that I can use to convince her it's a bad idea? What would the consequenses be if they didn't believe the ID was her's?

Please help!

Okay, so if I gave it to her, what are the chances she could be caught? I've never been clubbing in NYC, I don't know what kind of enforcement there is there.

Dont do it especially since she is your sister! Id scanning, black light tests, and the stare down are common door checks! Considering she is your sister and resides at your same residence you can get into trouble if she is caught using (a fake) being your ID! Somethings arent worth the risk! What's a couple more weeks? You could be fined for contributing to her request! Is it worth the risk and punishment? Bartenders receive cash rewards for turning in fake ID's... Luckily when mine was takin a friend of mine new the bouncer and he didnt turn it in (and even though I knew higher up people at the club they wouldnt give me my fake back either)! Bouncers are trained to look for false identification implications... New York is a big city with low tolerance for that!

Chances are high especially because she doesnt look like you and each club staff members are trained to look for that sort of thing! Im serious it really isnt worth it... There are serious consequences to fake ID's... I got very lucky! I know you will feel like the bad *** at first but think how horrible it would be if she got busted away from home! I can assure you that will be a major buzz kill on her vacation! Not to mention you are contributing to a minor by letting her use your identity!

I have a cousin that convinced her older sister to let her borrow her id so she could go to this club with her older friends. She got past the bouncer but in the club she lost track of her friends and this guy offered to help her out. He seemed really nice, I guess he was too nice because he hit her over the head, beat her up, and raped her. If her sister hadn't let her borrow her id none of that would have ever happened.

Oh and now my other cousin, the older sister who gave her the id in the first place, is being charged with reckless endangerment and negligence. And even if she hadn't gotten hurt and the bouncer had just caught that she was using someone elses id at the door he can keep the id, turn it into the police, and if the cops find out you gave it to the underager you can get in huge trouble.

Bad MOVE! You should not have given it to her. My brother borrowed an ID, got caught with it, the bar held the ID, contacted the police and my brother and the friend that loaned the ID were both prosecuted. Next time, follow your gut! If there is anything you can do to change it, do it now.

She's only 2 weeks shy of 21! Let her have fun with her friends. Put yourself in her position and how would you feel? It must suck for her when all her friends are of age. Give her a talk. Trust her. She's not that young. Geez, I was bagpacking solo around Asia at 21. Give her the "I want you to have responsible fun" speech and accidentally 'leave' your ID somewhere she can take it. It shouldn't come back on you at all. 2 Weeks, come on!

If you were in her position, you would want it too! I let my little sister borrow my id all the time. I just tell her to be careful, also, she looks nothing like me either.

You should let her use it. You only live once.

Omg, its NYC. That could go both ways, i would let her have it because she is almost 21 and is old enough to make her own decisions and maybe she won't use it.
