It's found in so many foods, and for something that's eaten so often, most people don't get sick of it.(except probably immediately afterwards)

It is part of a vicious cycle. You eat sugar, it is turned into glucose by your body, your pancreas secrets insulin which allows the glucose to be absorbed into your cells.

You get tired after all the glucose is absorbed, so your body craves more. So the cycle goes!

Humans have been around for a long time, but we've only had more food than we needed in the last 100 years. Before that, most people just couldn't afford to eat enough (or in the case of cavemen, hunt enough!) to get fat.

Eating lots of carbohydrates (sugars) gives you energy, and if you eat heaps, stored energy (body fat). So if you were a caveman who had a sweet tooth (or liked carbohydrates in general - potatoes, etc), you would go out of your way to eat those foods. These would give you more energy and better body condition than others who liked, say, carrots, and you would survive better when times got tough, and pass on your genes, and your liking for sugar. So liking sugar and carbs was not a bad thing at all until the 20th Century.

I guess the answer to your question is, we have evolved to eat as much sugar as we possibly can and not get tired of eating it.

The same goes for fat.

Sugar is in every food we eat, whether it be man made or natural like fruits and veggies. Our body breaks the food down and uses the sugar to make glucose which is what gives your body most of its energy. Thats why you get sick or tired if your havent eaten. It would be near impossible for your body to get sick of sugar unless your shoveling it in...Its just a nature part of the way our bodies work!
