Microsoft told me to download the latest video driver from Intel, and now I no longer have the option to run in 256 color mode. Can someone please help me fix this problem? Is it the driver or did I do something wrong? The option (256) is no longer in my display options. Did I uninstall the driver somehow, or is it maybe the wrong one?

go back to your devise manager and roll back to the previos driver. right click "my computer", then click properties, then click hardware, then click on device manager, go down the list till ya see the one ya want, then roll back to the previous driver. Good luck, Mikie.

It might be that it does not support 256 colors anymore. If you have a program that requires that you run in 256 color mode, use Compatibility Mode and tell it to run in 256 color mode.

if you have only higher colors, don't try too hard (unless you NEED 256 colors.

If you have less only, get the manual for your computer, and find the correct driver from the net (look at your manual, MS may have steered you wrong.)

Good luck
