If you are a believer, you are a called one of God, one of the elect. Your salvation was of God, not of you, so your salvation is assured. That is comforting. God often sends hard times to us in order to draw us to Him, to rely on Him totally. It is through suffering that our faith is refined and strengthened. It is then we see God work out things in our lives we thought impossible. I have seen it myself. Run to Him, fall down before Him, worship Him, even when it appears your world is falling apart. Remember, He is totally sovereign, even a bird cannot die without His permission. He knows of your struggles and has a reason for them, even if we don't understand. Trust Him, that His promises are true and that He is faithful. Look back at those who went before you, those saints who struggled, who were tortured, suffered greatly and died for their faith. See how God remained faithful to them. As I tell many people, if you are on the mountaintop, be aware, a valley is coming. If you are in a valley, look up, your mountain is about to come.

If you are having tough times, this is when you need Christ the most. Jesus is a friend who sticks closer than a brother, you probably know the verse. Don't abandon Him now, because He may be the only one who can get you thru the hard times. Remember you can always come back no matter how far you have drifted. You should pray to the Holy Spirit that He will give you a greater desire to pray and to draw closer to Jesus. That's the Holy Spirit's job. Also, God does not cause the hard times, everyone has them, believer and nonbeliever alike. But believers can deal with hard times better through the help and guidance of Christ than nonbelievers or backsliders can. God bless you.

What happens all depends on you.

Being a Christian is very difficult as we are in a worlds that belittles what we hold in high esteem. The people in the world do not hold high our values and at times look down on us for them. Not because they are mean spirited, but because to do otherwise would mean they are not being a good person.
But the rewards after this life are great and I encourage you to keep trucking. Make sure you make it to church every week cause we need that time 'away from the worlds'.
If you church does not provide that time, I think some evaluations are in order.
Volunteer at the church. It is a much easier walk when we are following His instructions and helping.

Trust me, that volunteer part is a wonder.

When you start working for God, things happen. Now keep in mind, the enemy will come against you when you do.

God Bless

Read the Book of Mormon. It is like the Bible, another testament of Jesus Christ. It will bring you closer Him when you feel like you're drifting away. Just give it a shot and pay attention to the how it makes you feel. Here's a link http://scriptures.lds.org/en/bm/contents or just call 1-800-499-0033 and they'll give you a free copy.

If you truly are wanting some way to help you be closer to Jesus Christ, why not try reading this book? I can tell you that there has been nothing for me in my life that brought me closer to Him or helped me feel more peace during times that were hard for me.

Humbly seek Him and He will answer you. We have all been through similar things as you are facing. N ever give up and try to read His word every day. I can promise you He will shelter you under His wings as it tells in Psalms 91. Also sometimes it is good to stay off this site for a while as there are some very lost discouragers on here. Sometimes the devil gets his way and his people succeed for a short time, but do not give up. The God of the universe loves you and will help you to ultimately succeed.

Schedule a time in the day that you can spend w/ Him. For example, lets say you choose 8:00 pm. Every night at 8 you would take your Bible and maybe a highlighter and go to a private place. Pray, and read His word. Spend time w/ Him. Then, do what He says in His Word. In other words, live according to the Word. It doesn' have to be 8 pm. It can be 6 am if you like. Just make sure you spend time w/ the Creator of the Universe.

Also, you say you have Christian friends that support your walk w/ Christ. That is great. Ask one of them to hold you accountable for reading your Bible everyday. Take them aside one day and ask them in private, it can be very effective. You can pray together and both of you can benefit from it, and your friendship can become stonger.

I hope you become more and more joyous w/ each day you grow closer to Him.
God bless you.

When your life gets "pretty hard" it's time to grow closer to Christ, not away from Him. Pray more. Read more Scripture. Make these "Rules" for your life. And go to Church. Take Holy Communion. I'll bet it was a long time ago the last time that you did! Get out of yourself. You are dead and bought with a price. You died in Baptism so that Christ can live in you.

Romans 6:3-5 3 "Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection,"

You do need Him, quit putting it off. Get into a prayer routine, add a little study time and time for worship. It might be a good idea, to set aside some time, like a few days or so for you and Christ to get reconnected. It's easier to go out in the world with a strong connection. Probably one of the reasons for the 4th Commandment.

We stray from God and turn to the world instead of Him, but He never, never leaves us. The world itself pulls us away from the Lord. PG 13 movies calling God's name in vain. Yahoo Answers loaded with atheist and non believers constantly saying horrible things against the Lord. The world calls evil good. TV bombards us with the filth in our country and the violence in the world. The abortion agenda and the homosexual agenda are beating Christians down. We vote hoping we can get abortion stopped, but no one will stop it. Our children or grandchildren attending schools that are loaded with violence and drugs and molesters.

We must take our eyes off of the world and keep them on God. Stay in the Word of God daily. Pray without ceasing for your children, your President, for the peace of Jerusalem and the peace in the world. When life gets hard start Praising His Holy Name Jesus. When you feel so far down and you see no way up, that is when you Praise Him the hardest. Thank you Lord for getting me through this. Apostle Paul said when these trials and hard times come - COUNT IT ALL JOY, because when you get through it - you'll be a lot stronger. Also - nothing wrong with asking God to strengthen your faith and reveal what you can do to get through this hard time faster. What happens is we turn to everyone else, but God. We need to turn to God first.

Girl I know exactly what you're going through!
I've strayed from the Lord so many times, that I cannot count them. But know this: our God is faithful and true. He will never leave us or forsake us. Every time that I lost faith and slipped back into the world, I made things ten times harder for myself. We cannot live without Him! Don't let Satan fool you; he is a liar and the truth is not in him!! He will tempt you with desires of the flesh; he will tell you that there is no "God"; he will try everything in his power to keep you from serving the Lord. You have to decide who you will serve. Who knows better? Him or Jesus? Who gave you life? Who took death upon himself for you? It surely wasn't the wicked one. He is laughing at you because he has succeeded in making you doubtful and confused. Get back up!! Ask the Lord to forgive you and to give you strength to overcome the prince of this world. For you know that God gives strength to the weary, He is strong. Pray hard and stay in His word. This trial could be a test given to you by God in order to see how much you love and believe in Him.
God Bless You!!
