Since you are not using china, I would recommend you purchase the pretty clear plastic plates which can be purchased at party stores (and sometimes dollar stores). Most of them come with pretty patterns that would be perfect for a special occasion. Instead of plastic table clothes, I'd go with paper table clothes if you can find them. Both the clear plastic plates and paper table clothes are inexpensive and will look nice with simple table decorations (candles, flower petals, etc.).

This all depends on your desires and limited budget. Plastic table clothes and paper table clothes have actually been used at many wedding receptions that I have been to. Most generally the bride and groom on a limted budget will do a buffet style meal and will have plastic plates by the food. This way your centerpieces and tables will still look nice even though you have plastic ware. Remember this day is about celebrating the beginning of you life as husband and wife. If it means a whole lot to you to have china or real plates consider the cost. If it means more to you to just have a nice wedding and still having some cash to begin your life then use the plastic ware and the paper or plastic table covers. I reinterate paper because paper table clothes are not only able to be recylced but they are less likely to want to slide off the tables. Enjoy your day and congrats.

It is really up to you. But personally, I would use actual tablecloths since you are already using plastic plates. That way, the tables will look made-up, nice, and not too informal. It is a wedding, after all!

Paper cloth is better than plastic. Some of the paper table cloths that I have seen are very nice and will lay more smoothly on the tables than plastic will. They will also absorb any spills that might happen better than plastic.

That would be fine. You can get them in white, or the other colors of your wedding. In fact, I think that is what a lot of couples are doing these days. Makes clean up from the reception a lot quicker and easier. Congrats! Take care.

You're seriously going to use plastic for your wedding? Are you at least buying the nicer clear stuff? I wouldn't go to fancy with the table covers, but it depends where you're having it.

Only if you use plastic sporks like we all used in grade school. Also, why not just use a roll of those wide brown paper rolls for the tablecloths. They are absorbent and clean up fast!

Absolutely! Use whatever you think will look good. We used black plastic tablecloths for our round tables, something everyone initially gawked at. But, they looked amazing with the hot pink and yellow accents!

Sure. If you have long tables, buy some rolls of the plastic tablecloths...it'll save you a lot of money, and cleanup will be a snap!
