Typically, Jews have their male children circumcised, yes; circumcision is probably the most universally observed Jewish commandment.

Beyond that, I'm not clear what your question is -- who is making a big deal out of circumcision and Judaism? It is a big deal in the Jewish community, yes, as circumcision is considered the first commandment given by God to Abraham, as an outward sign of the covenant between God and the Jews. If you're Jewish and in any way observant circumcision is absolutely a big deal because of its religious and cultural significance.

The ritual circumcision takes place on the 8th day of a baby boy's life (and NOT when the child is a few months old), and is performed by a Mohel (pronounced "moy-el"), a person who has been specially trained and who may or may not be a Rabbi (typically a Mohel is a Rabbi, Cantor, or other spiritual leader of the Jewish community....but, again, not necessarily a Rabbi).

regularly, Jews have their male little ones circumcised, sure; circumcision is possibly the main universally mentioned Jewish commandment. previous that, i'm no longer sparkling what your question is -- who's making a huge deal out of circumcision and Judaism? this is a huge deal in the Jewish community, sure, as circumcision is seen the 1st commandment given by utilising God to Abraham, as an outward sign of the covenant between God and the Jews. once you're Jewish and in any way observant circumcision is surely a huge deal because of the fact of its religious and cultural value. The ritual circumcision occurs on the 8th day of a toddler boy's existence (and not while the youngster is a few months old), and is finished by utilising a Mohel (stated "moy-el"), a individual who has been in specific knowledgeable and who could or could no longer be a Rabbi (regularly a Mohel is a Rabbi, Cantor, or different religious chief of the Jewish community....yet, returned, no longer unavoidably a Rabbi).

Jewish men must be circumcised - it is typically done when the baby boy is a few months old. There is a whole ceremony that accompanies it, its called a "bris" and the ceremony is preformed by a moil(sp?). I might be off on the spelling - not Jewish but my several friends are and I have heard all the stories of when this was done to thier sons and how much the father's were freaking out!
Just for the record circumcision is not common the world over at all - its a "western thing" which no doubt traces back to this very Jewish custom.

Jewish men are circumcized shortly after birth... most others are not these days... but there is new scientific evidence that circumcizion dose help prvent the spread of HIV... so it might become much more popular... it has long been known, scientificaly, that it also is better for the female partner in keeping down the transmission of other problems transmitted by sexual contact.

Yes, Jewish males often undergo a bris, or a ritual circumcision. Here in the US, non-Jewish males are often routinely circumcised, but in many other parts of the world, routine circumcision among the non-Jewish population is rare. Other countries don't tend to practice circumcision as much as Americans do, and in fact, there is now a growing trend in the US moving away from routine circumcision.

Not everybody gets circumcised, in fact, it is not as common as Americans would believe. As for the jews, well, its more about a religious ceremony than a medical procedure. A Bris is performed by a rabbi under specific conditions. It apparently is explained in the stories about Moses and his brother. I don't know the details perfectly though.
