I've know my boyfriend's mom for a while. He and I have been friends for 8 years, but just recently started hanging out and dating again. I haven't seen his family in ages. Well, we've been dating since October and he's in the Marines so he's gone a lot. We don't even live in the same state. Well, his mom asks him about me all the time and the last week asked him if he thought I'd like to go to lunch with her. He said just ask her. So she sent me an email and asked me to go. Of course I said I'd love to, because if not, that'd just be rude! She's a great person and I really like her and I want her to really like me too. He said she does, but she doesn't really know me all that well. I just need to know what I should wear to lunch with her tomorrow. I don't want to be to conservative cause she'll think I'm hiding something, but I don't have a clue right now! I have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear! I want everything to be perfect tomorrow! HELP!!

long sleeve knit top, khakis, loafers, tasteful small earrings. casual but not conservative. no low cut tops/tight pants of course.
something dark to hide nervous sweating, something printed to hide nervous food spillage. comfy and casual.
good luck.

I will try to help you, but I am a male and father of 3 boys. That being said, I know my wife doesn't worry so much about how her daughter-in-law dresses, as long as the woman dresses in something appropriate to her size and weight.
It is important to find out where she is taking you for lunch, if it is an informal place dress accordingly, if it is a more sophisticated place dress up a little more. If you have known this man for 8 years then you have an idea how his mother dresses, and whether she leans more to the formal side or towards jeans and running shoes.
I know my wife would like to have a daughter-in-law that is warm and friendly. I think here (regarding her inviting you to lunch) it is more she is looking to see what sort of person you are, if you show her warmth and understanding, she will more then likely return that warmth with kindness.
Good Luck, and Just Relax during your first one on one with her. She sounds like a nice person.

Dress a bit conservatively but not too much. Still maintain your style and sense of self. After all a meeting with the boyfriend's mom you're trying to sell yourself not your clothes. Try not to show too much cleavage, or wear clothes that are too tight or too small. You want to wear something your comfortable in and will feel most relaxed in. Above all just be yourself and try not to stress it...I'm sure you'll do fine...good luck!

Think of this as a meeting or a job interview. Where something nice but not so dressy she thinks you are trying to impress her. I would say something business casual. You want to be comfortable and yet seems little more put together then your laying around the house cloths. Good luck btw!

Wear a nice shirt that isn't to low cut or tight, but fits you nicely! Same with the pants nothing to low you can see your thong or to tight you can't wear a thong. Above all wear something you are comfy in if you try to hard she will know! Be yourself. He loves you and so wil she! Good luck!

Something that is not conservative but is not too revealing either. wear a skirt that comes to your knee and a shirt that shows your chest but no cleavage.
