I'm moving out this year or next year with my girlfriend.

You REALLY have to think about this though, financing and responsibilty. Don't dare move out without being ready.

Sit down and have a LOOOOONG think if this is right for you. If you're not the right age yet, don't bother.

Be mature about this.

17 to 18- Wouldn't advise moving out, it's tough at that age depending on maturity and trust me it takes a lot.

18 to 20- Sit them down tell them you are ready, have a plan set up (different apartments or other places that you could move to with how much rent would be, figure out a budget complete with utlities, gas, and whatever else you spend money on), more than likely your parents care a lot about your well being because you're asking how to leave give them time and show them that your ready to leave the nest and that you can make it on your own. DO NOT give them a few days notice that's what I did, bad move on my part. Always think of the worst possible situation (ie. losing your job or you need a new car. Whatever you do SAVE MONEY as much as you can before you move out, living on your own costs a lot of money at first but it gets a little easier.

After 20 then just tell them you're looking for a place of your own, hate to say it but they'll probably be glad they can stop shelling out money for you.

My boyfriend’s step-mother helped us. When she called the land lords, she explained that my boyfriend and I had no credit, but that we were good kids who were in college, and that didn’t drink, party, or cause trouble, and that we needed a chance.
She also went with us when we looked at apartments. I had cash money for both the security deposit, and the first month’s rent, even though I wasn’t required to pay the rent that minute.

Ya just do! If you feel that you are ready then you will find a way to get out. You have to be sure that you can support yourself and pay all your bills and all that fun stuff. If things are right, they will fall into place.
