courts today wont let a parent just sign over his rights, unless there is someone willing to adopt the child (such as a new spouse).
yes, you have a very good shot at getting child support.
call your caseworker and ask. and if you dont have a case open yet, open one and see what happens.

Well, are you two divorced or what? Sounds like you are, WOW, sounds like my cheap skate father when I was younger.
If you have been to court and have agreements on allomony and child support, there's no way of him escaping the RULES, if he tries to get out of it, guess what babe, bring his @$$ to court.
My father tried being slick like that, not paying child support or my tuition which was in the agreement, and now he is either going to pay or go out the hard way.
However, if he is over 18-21 and out of school, I dont think he sends child support anymore. You need to look at both your agrrements.

He cannot just sign away his rights to his child. You as the mother must agree to this and so must a court. If you agree to him signing away his rights, then you will NOT get any child support, since signing away rights gives you no rights and privileges to the child and no responsibilities either.

Yeh I have the same problem but unfortunately, in my state (IN) the only way my kids' dad could sign his rights away were if I had another man to adopt them. And no, you cannot receive child support anymore which yes, pretty much sucks!

not in Texas. he will have no ties to the child in any way. i would think twice about letting him do that. you can never go back and you have no idea what the future will bring. the court will only a allow a man to sign his rights away is if you have a new husband that want to adopt the child.you have to be remarried 7 years or longer.

He is signing his rights over therefore he is giving up all rights to the child, if you want him to pay you need to keep him on paper as Dad.

if he has NO rights, you should have signed a child support waiver... you cannot get support if he does not see the child

I don't think that you can get support. He is signing off his rights, you are agreeing to that, therefore you forego any support.
