You really should be asking a doctor this.
You are young and young people tend to make good recoveries, so my very best wishes to you :)

Harry,

I am sorry to hear about your accident. I know it is really frustrating for you not to be able to remember things like you did before the accident. You see I too had an accident when I was your age( fell off a motorbike and banged my head on the ground) no helmets then. I too lost my memory of certain things, not all. But gradually my memory came back. I didn't even know my own name at the time, nor what the name of certain things were. Fortunately though my memory never remembered that day the accident happened.

The brain is a fine mechanism, and I am sure with time and rest, and with talking with true friends and family it will start to remember things again.

Bless You!!

What has your doctor said? You can still have a life with epilepsy. I live with someone who has regular and really bad seizures (also caused by a head injury) They have similar problems and will always have them but he's learnt to laugh it off. Don't let it get you down, some of the medicenes are real good at keeping it under control and allowing you some normal life. I do hope you are lucky enough to recover from it with no long term affects, but do talk to your gp, there's alot of help out there in the mean time.

Harry, I am so sorry, your experience sounds absolutely horrible. I want to suggest that you talk to your parents and have them take you to the neurologist that was caring for you and have him sit down and explain everything in great detail-- bring a tape recorder, I'm sure he will allow it since you have a memory problem, or have your mom or dad write your questions down and the answers in a little notebook, that way, when you get anxious about what happened to you and don't understand, your mom can give you the book and you can read all about it ....and I know, it is like reliving your life over every day because you don't remember what happened.

One more thing, have your parents get a good lawyer....you need to be compensated by the person that ran you over because you will have a lifetime of medical bills and a sustaining injury (the epileptic seizures) for the rest of your life.

Good luck to you.....

It could be permanent or temporary, there are many forms of treatment nowadays but the best thing you can do is get in touch with The British Epilepsy Association Freephone Helpline is 0808 800 5050.
Or email:epilepsey@epilepsey.org.uk.
Another is www.epilepsey.org.uk
I do hope the above can help you remember its not the end of everything and with the right medication you will be able to lead a normal life and do all the things you want to do.last of all look at my history if I can do it so can you,God Bless and good luck.

epilepsy, along with damage or shock to the brain can kill brain cells... some of these can be replaced with training and repetition, but sometimes he part o the brain, i.e. the part that deals with short term memory can be permanently damaged, therefore you will have to learn to live with it.....
If it makes you feel any better, i get the exact same thing, i forget EVERYTHING... but i have a pathetic excuse.. im a blonde heehee
just keep your chin up and thank your lucky stars that your still alive.x

You should ask your doctor to be referred to some kind of therapist to help you with exercises you could do to help you retain information. The petit mals I'm not sure about. You might always have them, or they could go away with time. Good luck.
