You could be thinking of a Bengal cat. They look more like a leopard but are part wild.

Its a Leopardus tigrina also known as tigar cat, Tiger Ocelot, or Oncilla
The tiger cat has a slim, graceful body with long legs and a long tail. Its coat is a light yellowish-brown with striking dark brown spots, which may form rosettes or chains of rosettes. Its tail is ringed. The tiger cat may be found in the forests of Central and South America, where it hunts by day and by twilight, from trees, and seeks small rodents and birds.
___A bengal cat is a breed between a Asian Leopard Cat and a Domestic cat - So its not part tiger just looks it alittle.

There are a few new genetically altered breeds being worked on.One of these are being called Toygers. So far they run up to $4, 0000 for a kitten.
Other breeds include the Savannah (part house cat, part African serval) and the Chausie (part house cat, part jungle cat)
Please be aware that some of these breeds are not your regular friendly house kitties. Though they are beautiful, they can be really feral.
I myself think that we have enough cats in our shelters available for adoption. There is no need for more.

I read an article in the Life Magazine that comes in the Sunday paper - they are called "Toygers" They are tabby cats with bengal-type markings and have large bodies. They have been trying to breed them to have roundish ears. New breeds and not readily available and pricey, as high as $4000. One of the breeders listed was Lake Mountain Bengals and Toygers in Eagle Mountain, Utah. Hope this helps.

Bengal Kittens. It is hard to find a breeder, so you will have to do some research online if you want one. Ocicats and Ocelots look like leopards, the Ocicat being the smallest and most domesticated of the two.

This cats are stunning but please remember that Cats like this often are a result of inbreeding and are produced by people who care little about them.... more times than you can imagine a baby will be born with a deformity and they will either kill them or treat them badly... anytime you see the word "Designer" that word actually means "profit making" it's only desireable for social status and not for loving companionship.

An Abbysinian looks like a small Mountain Lion, and an American Bobtail looks like a small Bobcat. I can't think of any that look like a tiger (orange w/black stripes). http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/abyssinian.html & http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/american-bobtail.html

I'm not sure. I have a 13 year old Maine Coon that's big enough to be mistaken for part tiger (lol).
