Don't worry about this. You should be getting a combination of strength training and cardio anyways. You are right... it will help you lose your belly since cardio burns fat. It shouldn't eat away at your upper body muscles because you burn fat first, then muscles. We're talking a run around the block, right, not a marathon after all.
Try it. If you find yourself losing weight, then eat more. A calorie is a calorie, no matter if you burn it or eat it.

Dieting will reduce your muscle and water content as well as your body fat. It is difficult to keep up a diet, because you continually have to fight temptation. Limiting what you eat can also be unhealthy. Exercise, by contrast, will burn calories, increase your lean muscle and body tone, and raise your metabolic rate.
If you increase you exercise, you can continue to eat enough to make you feel satisfied, and get a wide range of vitamins and minerals, without putting on weight. It will improve your appearance, reduce stress, and improve your health.
To estimate the amount of calories you need, first multiply your weight in kilograms by 33 (1 kilograms = 2.20 pounds.) This gives you your calorie requirement for a moderately active person who does not exercise. On top of that, to walk, jog or run a mile uses about 100 calories. (It doesn't matter how fast you do it: the energy used is about the same.) From this, you can calculate the amount of calories you should consume each day to reduce your body fat. Never cut your calorie intake to below 80% of your calorie requirement. Running regularly also increases your resting metabolic rate, and increases your percentage of lean muscle, so increasing your energy consumption throughout the day. Over time, for every extra 6 miles a week you run, your equilibrium body weight will settle at about 1kg lighter.

once you're looking into construction mass, than working isn't a super option. your physique makes use of muscle fibers in each and each circulate, and with working your triggering your smaller fibers for longer sessions of time. subsequently you will burn a super sort of fat, yet not build any extra advantageous fibers. in case you prefer to benefit muscle, i'd recommend performing sprints. Sprints are continuously a great determination because of the fact, you're exploding in a short burst of skill, which will reason your extra advantageous muscle fibers to act, and your smaller fibers wont take over till you have set a p.c... Muscle construction is confusing, and could even have a great balanced weight loss plan of lots protein, and supplements. 80% of muscle construction is in weight loss plan, and sleep. objective for 7-8 hours a night, not extra, and no much less.

Have you tried sit ups? In my experience, I lost weight after three months of daily jogging.
