I have a bad knee that is normally ok but seems to be aggravated by exercise. I just wondered whether trampolining would be too harsh on the knees? If yes, then can anyone suggest exercises I can do?!

no, infact I think it's one of the worst exercises you could do with a bad knee as it's your legs that do most of the work and ur knees joints would be used a lot in the bouncing. Recomending trampolining for a person with a bad knee is like, telling someone with back pain to take up bunjee jumping! As someone else said swimming is a great exericse as it takes all pressure off your joints..try looking into activitys that use more upper body strength than lower x

BE CARE FULL, I had a sore knee, thought it was just a pulled muscle and went line dancing to exercise 3 times a week. It never got any better but I got used to the pain so like an idiot I kept on exercising. I ended up having to get a knee replacement, Not Nice at all. Suggest you get an Xray to see whats going on inside and let the Doc be your guide. And in the meantime, swimmings a great all over exercise.

I have had ACL surgery on both knees and the doctor has recommended a mini trampoline to me. I use it every other day for a walk/jog/walk. If you were hoping to use a large trampoline and practice your double back sommersaults then I would suggest possibly not! I have to wear my knee support even when walking/jogging. Have you got some? they are great and allow me to exercise when otherwise I could not. Might be worth considering.

Not a good idea with a bad knee as it takes most of the impact! Swimming and walking uphill are two good exercises if you have a bad knee. Swimming; the water is taking all your weight but allowing you to tone and strengthen muscles against the water ressistance. Walking uphill; Not too strenuous but still allowing some form of muscle work out. Once you get going with these you should be able to slowly and steadily build up to more physical stuff.

Knees are very delicate and take a long time to heal. They consider running to be very hard on the knees, so imagine how rough trampolining is. You are depending on your knees to absorb the bounce each time, so you are putting an incredible amount of pressure on them.

Here are other forms of exercise that are better: walking (not strolling but brisk walking), using a cross trainer (at least it absorbs some of your weight so the pressure isn't all on the knees), water sports (very good! i.e. aquasize), rowing (outside or machine). Lifting weights (obviously not leg exercises), or pillates (with modified movements if it hurts your knees) are also good.

I seriously doubt it - that sort of excersise focuses a lot on the knees and a bad knee just needs some gentle excersise everyday.
