If you are referring to the time from committing the driving offence to receiving the summons in the post then there is the 60 day rule that states that unless they get a fine to your door within 60 days you are technically off the hook. This can be extended if the offence was committed in a hire car or there are other mitigating circumstances.

If you are not contesting the fine then you should send the declaration of guilt back along with your licence and you should get it back within about three weeks.

Mind you, with the amount of cameras snapping every poor driver more than 5 mph over the limit, there may be a bit of a back log!

My husband is a major criminal...... caught doing 37 in a 30 limit. He got the prosecution notice 3 days after the offence .Then when he sent his licence off along with the fine he got the licence back along with the points in about 2 weeks.

Because you've neglected to stipulate what state you're inquiring about...it makes this question difficult to answer.

Each state has its' own laws concerning point assessments and removal of such points from a driving record.

You may look on the internet under " Drivers License Point System" to learn more!

Best wishes!

If you mean -- how long does it take for the points to go off the record? It's usually 3 years (in the US, in most states).

usually within 28 days, but it can be longer, depending on which offence and postage conditions i.e.whether it could be "lost" in the mail
