Lost lisence because I was taking an anti depressant and didn't know that I needed a doctor to fill out a form saying I am able to drive.
No one told me about it. No doctors mentioned the form and I never got a notice from DMV saying my lisence was suspended. I was pulled over for having a light out and (imagine my suprise) found out I was going to be arrested if I couldn't get a friend to drive me home!
I have a court date and am about to wet my pants out of fear. In Maine, I can have up to six months in jail.
(Bonus question: What is jail like in Maine?!)
Thanks a lot.

First time offence.
Why I'm worried also is that It's been suspended for nearly five years without my knowing (I never get pulled over).
I got my lisence back the same week.

HONESTLY, I CANNOT IMAGINE ANY JAIL BEING PEACHY, SORRY TO BURST YOUR BUBBLE. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT IT THAT YOU'LL GET IN TROUBLE, MAYBE JUST A FINE OR SOMETHING TO THAT EFFECT, JUST BE HONEST, BE SINCERE, AND TELL THE JUDGE THAT YOU'LL GET EVERYTHING TAKEN CARE OF. BONUS ANSWER- JUDGES LIKE CONFIDENCE, THEY NEED TO KNOW YOU'RE SINCERE, CAUSE IF THEY DON'T BELIEVE FOR ONE MINUTE THAT YOU'RE TELLING THE TRUTH, YOU'RE DONE FOR.

TRY TO RELAX TODAY, CALM DOWN, READ A BOOK, DRINK SOME GREEN TEA, TAKE A NAP, AND LOOK PRESENTABLE WHEN YOU GO TO COURT.

BEST OF LUCK TO YA!

OMG!! That sounds kinda strange. First of all you should talk to the doctor that gave you the antidepressant and see if they can give you that form you needed. This will at least convince the judge that you were able to safely drive. When you go to court explain the situation as calmly as possible and tell the judge that you didn't know your liscence was suspended. Someone should have notified you about this somehow. And usually for an offence like that they hardly ever give you the maximum sentence. Especially if it is your first offence. They will probably just give you a fine and say that if you don't pay it then you will go to jail for like 30 days. good luck!!

You have your excuse. Present in court because thats the forum for such matters. I'll think you'll find that the case will be dropped, assuming its a first offense. In the meantime I'd make an effort to work on getting your license renewed.
Also...don't sweat jail. The only people who do time on a suspended licnse are those who are habitual idiots who insist on driving, keep getting caught and the judge sees that every time they leave court they get caught again.
