What is more dangerous than the appearance of knowledge where there is really just deceit and lies? Ignorance and discovery is a natural thing in life, but to try and overcome a veil of pretense, of made-up imagination, is truly the greatest obstacle of all, for more often than not, it is all but impossible.

=D How's that?
The quote basically means that discovery is not the biggest challenge people face. The biggest challenge people face is the appearance of knowledge where there really isn't any (people not having any idea what they're talking about, and just making it up.)

Lets say there are two types of people. Some people tend to concentrate on money, power, fame, and other solid things in life that hold no value but monetary etc. Some people tend to go for knowledge we gain from certain things discovering more fascinated things that come with it and so importantly gain knowledge, experience and joy from it. Its about persons values. Hopefully i am not too confusing. Its in a way hard to explain and i usually would give you an example but then it would take way too much time for these pitty two points. See here in a last comment i am compromising myself and showing you life example. I am going only for two points here which lets say is my obstacle. I go for it for discovery....value....an other word illustrating my lack of interest to expand my answer so i and you can gain some knowledge from it. I am at this point going for discovery and not illusion of knowledge, whether it would give me any or not at all.

"All I know is that I know nothing."-Socrates

Everybody thinks they know something. That they have a good grasp on things. That's what makes Socrates quote a good one.

Well for simplicity, you can't beat Will Rogers:

"It ain't what people don't know that gets them in trouble, it's what they know that ain't so."
