Your dog can recover from acute kidney failure with the correct treatment.
Chronic kidney failure is progressive. There are medications and diet foods that may lengthen the time the dog has, but unless the dog has a kidney transplant (not likely), I am afraid that chronic kidney failure is even fatal to humans.

Is it acute or chronic? the vet should have told you and esplained the difference. If it is acute be sure to follow the vets diet prescription.

50/50 chance. I would think not but maybe the dog could survive.
