what do you think about the find?

personaly think its BS. they have said they found evidence of jesus having a son but i think thats false. if jesus has a son i am sure it would be known. others have suddested him and mary has a daughter and i find that more likely because if i undestand correctly daughters were not as importent as sond back then.

what do you think of all this?

I read what the Discovery Channel has up about it. It is a little short on details, but the ones that are there point to a pretty good case.

The evidence is that the names are all over the walls. It has Joesph, Mary. Son Jesus and James. Wife of Jesus Mary and son Judah. The DNA recovered shows the relationships are exactly what the markers describe etc. And the dates are all right. It isn't a slam dunk, but the odds of all the names coming out exactly the way the Bible story is are huge. This would be accepted any where if it didn't have conflicts with the Bible stories.

Here it is: http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/tomb/tomb.html?clik=www_wh_1

I will certainly watch the full show on March 4.

First of all it does not surprise Christians to hear that Jesus died or had a tomb. What is important to remember is that Jesus did not stay dead. He resurrected on the 3rd day.

"Such a find would not conflict with the tenants of the Christian faith, particularly that Jesus was resurrected from the dead 3 days after his crucifixion circa 30 CE."
~Quoted from discovery.com

Secondly Jesus was never married. Jesus did not have a sexual relationship outside of marriage because that would be sin and he is sinless. Therefore he never had any children.

• Though Jewish men of Jesus’ day were usually married, there were many exceptions. For example:
– The Essenes of the Dead Sea community at Qumran remained single.
– The apostle Paul was single (1 Corinthians 7:7).
– In both Judaism and Christianity, singleness and celibacy were esteemed as a means to complete devotion to the Lord (1 Corinthians 7:32 – 33).
– While most rabbis were married, Jesus more closely fulfilled the role of a prophet. Prophets often remained single to be wholly devoted to the Lord.
– John the Baptist, the prophet and forerunner of the Messiah, was unmarried.
• All of the evidence indicates Jesus was single.
– From the cross, Jesus commends his mother to John’s care, but does not mention a wife.
– There is no hint of any sexual or marital relationship between Jesus and the women who supported him.
• There is not a shred of early or reliable historical evidence that Jesus was married.

The Talpiot Tomb most recently documented by the BBC in 1996 has never been accepted as a tomb likely to bear any people of the New Testament. Also the inscription referred to as Jesus isn't Jesus at all.

Regardless, the tomb of Christ was empty for He was resurrected on Easter Morn in His newly transfigured spiritual body.

Point is if they go around saying that they have DNA evidence to prove that Jesus has descendents, then they are presupposing that Jesus had descendents, because what can they compare that old DNA against in our modern times? Its a circular argument. To my mind, they've discovered a tomb, that's about it.

Jesus could float down from heaven on a golden cloud with angels all around him, but if he didn't act and speak exactly as Christians expected him to, they would scream "hoax" and "fake" and call him the devil in disguise. In other words, most Christians are interested in protecting their fragile belief system. They're not interested in the truth or reality.

it is total crap! These tombs/coffins were actually found 20 yrs ago. The names Mary, Judas and Jesus were common names back in those days, like Robert and Steve is today. Jesus, whether you believe He is God or just the Son of God, came to earth to teach us, to show us who God is, to redeem our sins and to be our Savior. He was man and Divine. There was NO reason for Him to have a sexual relationship with anyone or to have a child(ren). He had a mission on earth and He fulfilled it.

why is it everyone is so keen on trying to destroy the christian faith? this continual effort to try and destroy the base of the christian religion is so bigoted. if christians dare say anything about another religion they get accused of all kinds of horrible things yet its okay to attack them.
its b.s. its an impossibilty to prove anything.....all they can do is to continue to try to raise doubt in christianity.
jesus was who we have all been raised to believe he was. nothing more - nothing less

and i agree with verbalise.............what about D.N.A. ???????
