I read in the newspaper that Mary, Joseph, Jesus, and even Mary-Magdalene and Judas have been discovered in Jerusalem in a family place of burrial. Do you think this is true or a hoax for someone to be making money from it like it was done with the movie " Da Vinci Code?

Cameron is pandering to the public and his "find" will be proven to be just bad science:

The statistical analysis is not rigorous

The name "Jesus" was a popular name at that time, appearing in 98 other tombs and on 21 other ossuaries

There is no historical evidence that Jesus was ever married or had a child

The earliest followers of Jesus never called him, "Jesus, son of Joseph"

It's unlikely Joseph, who had died earlier in Galilee, would have been buried in Jerusalem

The Talipot tomb and ossuaries probably would have belonged to a rich family, which is not a historical match for Jesus

Fourth-century church historian Eusebius makes quite clear the body of James, brother of Jesus, was buried alone near the temple mount.

The two Mary ossuaries do not mention anyone from Migdal, but just Mary, a common name

By all ancient accounts, the tomb of Jesus was empty, making it unlikely that any body was moved, allowed to decay for a year, then be put into an ossuary.

Amos Kloner, the first archaeologist to examine the site, said the conclusions cannot be supported by the evidence – but it's a way to make money on television. He would have nothing to do with supporting the movie's assertions. "It's nonsense," he said.

James, the half-brother of Jesus and author of the book of James, the early leader of the church in Jerusalem, was martyred for his faith. Why does James make no mention in his letter that Jesus was not bodily resurrected? When he was about to die why didn't he just recant his beliefs and say, 'Okay, okay! My brother didn't rise from the dead. Here's where we took him. Here's where his bones are. Here's our family tomb. We made the whole thing up?' People will generally not die for a lie when they know it's a lie. Why would James die perpetuating a lie when it would have been so easy to disprove? In fact why would any of the apostles go to their deaths for something they knew to be false?

As I have expected, there has been **no scientific or historical find** that has ever been shown to disprove the authenticity of the bible's history or theology.

Names Mary, Joseph and Jesus were very common in that area back then. Stats say about 50% of the women were named Mary. The fact that it's indeed "the" Jesus is not confirmed as the archeologist that found the grave stated. Same was said by the director of the documentary movie being made on this subject - odly enough.

I can give you my opinion on this matter... I think that, like the Dead Sea Scrolls, this will turn out to be something other than what it appears.

After all, the Dead Sea Scrolls had portions supposedly written by Mary Magdalene, but were actually written 500 years after her death!

There's no way to PROVE who's in that grave they have located. It's not like we can do comparitve DNA testing to find out.

I think it'll turn out to be like the Dead Sea Scrolls. Someone thought that was who it was and marked it.

It also has to do with faith. Do you believe that Jesus was resurrected, or do you believe he died, was buried and it was over for Him?

The Discovery Channel will show the James Cameron film on this subject on March 2.

Now that's irony... "Christ" "comes back" in a tomb with his wife and child, to prove he existed, and almost all of his followers turn their backs on him, just as he predicted they would.

P.S. To the many uninformed who have answered this question: the tomb was discovered in 1980, before the DaVinci code, and long before Easter 2007.

James Cameron is the Anti-Christ. It even says in Revelation 23:4 "James Cameron will appear in the magic box and tell us the false statement that he found the bones of Jesus. This will be the beginning of the end. Soon after, the news of the fox will announce the rapture and all of the followers of Jesus will enter the heavens and all demoncats will enter Hell".

hoax. Jesus (Greek version of Joshua), Mary (Greek version of Mariam), Joseph (Hebrew version of Joses [jose]) and Judas (Greek for Judah) were very common first names. Also, there were many recorded efforts to try and eliminate the Jesus story 2000 years ago. So it's very possible that someone could have made a fake grave.

I don't think that it is a hoax. It is possible that the graves belonged to other people of the same (common) names. It may in fact be the actual graves though. I still love Jesus as my personal master though, and even if he was buried there it doesn't change anything for me.

It is true they found a tomb with Jesus' name on it. It is also true that there are several dozen other tombs with Jesus name, even "Jesus son of Joseph." Those names very common. The burial site is real but the movie is just another empty controversy made to sell tickets.

Before I forget... I believe it was "Judah" not "Judas." This Judah is supposedly the son of Jesus and Mary-Mag.

As for your question, it doesn't really matter. There's no way to prove it. Most Christians will discount it and not believe any of it anyway.

Theres no evidence to suggest that it's not them, but the evidence to suggest that it is, is limited. They are going by names on the coffins, and the fact that Jesus and Mary M are not genetically related.
