I realize that not everyone is in the financial position to adopt children when they've already got kids. But adoption through the state is usually free so the economic barrier would be what a family could afford.
Since Christians say that abortion is wrong and the baby should be born and put up for adoption, how many are willing to adopt these children? I know it's not enough because... we still have tons of children in foster care!
How many Christians have walked the walk and adopted children because they didn't want the child aborted?
76% of the U.S. population says they are Christian. With that many Christians around, why do we still have kids in foster care or ophanages? And why do they adopt from abroad? American kids need saving too!
So if you really are against abortion, are you willing to adopt a child or do you expect some other Christian to do it?

So many of you are saying you didn't tell them to get pregnant, but you aren't really solving the problem. "Have the child and someone will adopt it," you say, but no one is stepping up to adopt the children.

Beta Fish - You are absolutely right! The best way not to have an unwanted child is not to have an unwanted pregnancy and the best way to do that is to be responsible for your own actions! I don't feel responsible for others and no obligation, but then again I'm a liberal Heathen that believes in personal responsibility.
Christians however seem to take this attitude that they are somehow better by virtue of their religion. I'm pretty sure that their religion would ask that they take care of the children. But so many are unwilling to do that.
I am calling out Christians though for taking an option off the table but not offering any viable solutions.

Thank you, my point exactly...
What's really amusing is they are all saying the gays can adopt the ones that aren't wanted...do they ever make sense?

I've don't know about walking the walk, but I do know a few people who tried to adopt in Canada/ US. It was an up hill battle. I heard of one couple who had to give up the lovely child after 6 months because the birth mother had a change of heart. I've known others thinking that it would be a no-brainer entered into the foster-care system only to be rejected. ( Even though the parent(s) were deemed unfit, they still had parental rights)
Friends that have adopted overseas have confessed to me that start to finish, the process took 1yrs tops.

I want to adopt rather then have children. Basically, cause I'm scared of pain and needles. Adopting doesn't require either (at least, I don't think it does). Frankly, I'd adopt a few (I want a big family) kids starting around the age of four or five.

Yes, that's it...lay the responsibility squarely at the foot of the Christians. LOL I may be going WAY out on a limb here...but there may be another group of people who have a larger share of the responsibility here... ;-)
How about this: People who are having unwanted children: are you willing to stop having unwanted children? Or if you aren't...are you willing to step up and take responsibility for your lives? Or if you aren't...are you at least willing to stop demanding that the Christian community bear a disproportionate share of society's burdens?

I expect people to not have sex unless they want to have the responsibility of married parenthood. I take care of my kids. Why do others choose abortion as birth control? Why did they play with fire to begin with? Kids in foster care? Why are they unwanted? Because the "adults" should not have been screwing around to begin with?
(EDIT Beta-Fish says it perfectly)

The decision to adopt doesn't have anything to do with the religion of the person. Its more to do with whether you want your own actual genes walking the earth or not.
