I used to work security in a grocery store and it's called,"grazing".It's when you open that bag of chips or drink that can of beer or even "sample" the fruit.
My favorite is when people would go and grab a handful of pistachios ,or other types of shelled nuts or even trail mix and walk around in the store spitting out the shells. Man, were you raised in a barn?

If the line up in a grocery is long and tedious (usually is) I might tear open a box of cookies or crackers and start eating if I am really hungry. No one has complained yet, if they did, I would tell them they are taking too long.

If you don't pay for the stuff, it is theft.

I used to taste the grapes before I bought them until my husband convinced me that it was theft of some kind. I always thought there was no harm in trying one....how was I to know if I liked them of not.
