Read what the Bible says about tithing,

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

Malachi 3:8-12

Tithing is a principle of faith. If you have faith and are willing to prove the Lord on his promises above, then yes. But, I do know that it is can be difficult to have such faith when money is so short. Jesus said that the widow who gave her last penny in tithing was far more blessed than the rich man whose tenth is hardly even noticeable.

In the end, you have to make your own choice. God blesses the faithful.

god does not require a poor, disabled senior on social security, to tithe! its all the earnings she have! she can sow a seed of what she can spare, our father is rich! and wants the best for his children, the fixed income'' that a senior receives, is for her daily living who will pay txu? who will pay water? heating, and rent? and food? gas for the car her clothing? and other necessities? she wont be able to dial up an evangelist or the pastors if the lights go out! or she/he receives an eviction notice god will never ''curse'' or rob'' a poor servant whom he has blessed (no matter how small ) with an income to meet his or her needs. amen

Televangelists do not care that my grandmother's neighbor was eating cat food because they had convinced her that if she didn't send them every penny she could, she wouldn't go to heaven. Of course, they were sitting pretty next to their pools in the backyards of their mansions.

I am christian, I believe in the bible, but I do not now, nor will I ever, believe televangelists are anything other than thieves using the name of God.

Oh, by the way, tithing is money collected on our earnings during our working years, so if we're into tithing, we've most likely already tithed on that money.

God does not want anyone to tithe. God believes you should give whatever you feel you can afford without being stingy. It is the Church that wants you to tithe but most don't insist on it. God still loves you and so does your Christian brothers and sisters. God Bless.

That one's a tough call, because if the individual paid into Social Security their whole working life, then that money was already tithed from when it was earned.

It's really between the individual and God, and it's no one else's business.

why not? You are to tithe during your whole life. If they can't afford 10% then give 5% or 3% or 2%; as long as they give.

My grandmother is 98 1/2 yrs old and she still tithes every Sunday.

That is a decision they must make and it will be between them and the Lord.

As for me, I will always give a tenth of my income as I believe it is a commandment to always tithe. And that the Lord will bless me for my faithfulness.

Gen. 28: 22 I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
Num. 18: 26 for the Lord, even a tenth part of the tithe.
Mal. 3: 8 Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
Luke 18: 12 I give tithes of all that I possess.

I am on Social Security Disability ( I have a genetic neurological disorder) and i'm not Christian, so I don't tithe, but a portion of my income goes to sponsoring a disadvantaged child in another country. I am poor, but she is poorer. Pay it forward...

Tithing is idiotic. It is a way for pastors and the like to make money. The bible says that we should give as our heart allows, not because it is required by a specific church/leader.

No. Tithing is only for those who can afford it. If they cannot afford to tithe, then they are the ones who will actually receive the tithed money.
