I was in the doctor's waiting room a couple weeks ago and saw an article in a magazine about 100% grapefruit juice. I didn't have time to read the article, but it said something about the benefits of drinking 100% grapefruit juice while dieting. Does anyone know the benefits of drinking 100% grapefruit juice while dieting? When to drink it? How much?

All citric fruits are known for their vitimin and folic acid content, so if your extra pounds are due to over-eating which is being triggered by not having enough of one of the many micronutrients that citric fruits contain, citric fruit juice could provide enough extra micronutrients to shut off that overeating trigger and help you lose weight.

Among citric fruits, lemons, limes, and grapefruit are known for containing less sugar per ounce than oranges, tangeringes, cumquats, and most other citrics, so by drinking grapefruit juice instead of OJ, you get fewer calories, which means you won't be gaining as much weight.

I, however, am statistical evidence that sixteen ounces of grapefruit juice with each meal, and nothing but water to drink throughout the remainder of the day, has not helped me lose any significant weight. Only by curbing the rest of my diet and by increasing my exercise rate, do I lose weight. So for me, it is some other factor that is triggering my obesity.

The real reason it helps your diet is it contains two chemicals : naringinen and bromelain that when combined with caffeine maintain your metabolism at a higher rate for extended periods. So have a cup of coffee then finish it with a glass of grapefruit juice.

It is good to drink while dieting ebcuase it fills you up before you eat. drink 8 fluid oz of grapefruit juice before you eat any meal and then you wont be able to finish the meal. It helped me loose a lot of weight by doing this. You can also have half a greapfruit before meals if you want to mix it up a bit.
