My concern is that you use democracy as a war cry but most don't even know what it means.

Since the 17th Amendment the US has been more Democracy than Republic. Prior to that Senators were appointed by the State they Represent.. To restor the REPUBLIC the forefathers planned the 17th Amendment would have to be repealed.

It's been a long time, but let's see if i remember correctly:

A republic (a nation) doesn't have a Royalty as the head of state; it has an elected official such as our President. The ultimate power of a republic is in the citizens who vote for representatives who **should** be answerable to those who voted for them. (we don't currently seem to have that ~ our elected officials seem to think all they have to do is get in there and then the heck with those of us who put them in office).

In a democracy, all power is actually vested in the people and the people, themselves, rule *or* they elect representatives (plural ~ and not just one 'big one') who rule based on the decisions of the people.

How'd i do?

A republic is basically a form of Democracy but works better in modern day time.

Your democracy is slowly being destroyed. The American public is given the illusion of democracy when in reality it is nothing of the sort. Just like we are given the illusion of rights, and then our 'representatives' slowly find loopholes in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and such and take them away.
Fine Democracy we have, that, even though most people disprove of our president's policies, we still have him in power. Nice

We are a republic because that is the form of government we want to have.

Why do you have a problem with this?
