The Bible says that God granted him one wish, basically, and Soloman wished for wisdom to govern the people of Israel. Since he asked for an unselfish thing, God gave him the most wisdom of any man ever.

There are some things we can gain by our own hard work and study/ education... but some things are gifts from our loving Heavenly Father who is our God... Solomon was very humble and was given his wisdom as a gift from God... We each have our own gifts, and all we need to do is to be able to recognize them and use them to our best abilities.... we might not have the wisdom of Solomon, but we might have another great gift or talent that we are not fully utilizing or maybe not even aware of!
I guess in that case we should be more humble and ask God what our gifts or talents are... and for guidance to fully realize them and use them to bless others as well as our own lives!

Solomons request was to judge the people righteously. He didn't ask for riches, etc. This pleased God and so God gave Solomon Godly Wisdom & riches & too many wives.
This reminds me of Jesus Christ. Jesus said that a greater wisdom than Solomon was here (Meaning Himself who Is the Word of God).
That the Proverbs is/are Godly wisdom.

First there's the very real question of whether "Solomon" ever lived. There's about as much evidence for Arthur as an authentic historical figure as there is for the "Solomon" who appears in scripture.
Assuming that he DID live, and that he WAS "wise," for which, again, we have absolutely no evidence beyond what is written in scripture, it seems most reasonable to suppose that he obtained his wisdom in the same way that all wise people do: by applying his brains.
Contrast this against those imbeciles who say things like "You know perfectly well how he gained his wisdom: God bestowed it," or whatever. Lazy theists!

That's just your definition of wisdom. Mine is that wisdom is knowing how to apply what knowledge you have. God gives wisdom according to book of James and God specifically gave Solomon wisdom because he asked for it. He gives it to anyone that ask. That is a promise of God.

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't Solomon the guy with 700 wives and 300 mistresses ?
Maybe that had something to do with it?

SOLOMON WAS WISE NOT BECAUSE HE WAS PERFECT, BUT, BECAUSE HE LIVED FOR GOD, GOD GAVE HIM WISDOM AND RICHES BECAUSE HE DID NOT ASK FOR THEM.
