Indecent exposure ???Court date??What if you cant pay the fines?

I am 19 yr old the guy in question is 18.It is a Indecent exposure fine that we both got.Neither one of us can afford to pay because we dont work (college students living on an allowance).I really dont want to tell my parents what the fine is for.He had no pants or under wear on and i only had on a bra.We were at a park and got caught by little kids sledding because we were outside.I have a court date as well! I have no idea what to do?

Do i really have to go to court ??

We thought the park was empty in that area!

If you have no money, your options are limited. The University I attended did make attorneys available to students pro bono, though. That should be the first step. If you cannot pay the fine you can either serve time or probably be sentenced to community service. A lawyer may make a deal to get it wiped out in favor of probation, so that's your best course of action. Look through your course catalog under student services.

Edit -- yeah, you have to go to court, probably. Or your lawyer will. You don't necessarily have to be present, but it depends on how the justice system works in your area.

And don't worry about this. People get caught doing crazy stuff all the time. This is hardly a big deal. But, again, go to your university and see what they can do for you. If they have nothing, contact your LOCAL bar association chapter and they'll over you some guidance in terms of obtaining counsel. You also have the right to a public defender (assuming you're in the USA).

It's probably a Class C misdemeanor and if you have no priors I'm sure you can get out of this with probation. Again...relax and don't feel bad about it. People on here can be idiots.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE PEOPLE. Sex offender registration? They didn't even take you to jail, right? You got a ticket. This isn't exactly a felony offense. These people have no idea what they're talking about...don't let them scare you.

But seriously, if you don't have any money to pay the fine, you might be looking at some jail time. But maybe if first offence, you can ask for community service. On second thought, as a sex offender, now. That may not work out. Do you also realize that you will now have to register as a sex offender for the rest of your life? Ummmm - why go to college, if you're so dumb?

if you tell the judge you have no money but are getting a part time job to pay for the fine ,they will work something out in most states.
Show remorse, wear pink (I am not kidding) Modest, NO cleavage!! do your best to look innocent and young.
Be polite and ashamed it can't hurt.
If you go in to court dressed in a flashy or sexy way they will take it as a measure of your character.
Dress like you are going to church with your Grandmother and you are only14.

yes go to court. Most judges will work with you on a case like this. (I got caught giving my bf a bj in a public parking lot.) You were following your natural instincts. Just keep it indoors and behind curtains from now on. Depends on the judge, you could work out payment arrangements, possibly ask if you could do community service instead of paying a fine. The guy should always pay for the first court date. ;-)

Seriously, if your parents have the dough, ask them for a needed advance. Make something up (you need a new computer or your car needs a repair). That should cover it. Try a cash advance on a credit card, they'll eat you alive, but your secret will be safe. Ask 50 people to lend you 20 bucks (or however much the fine is).

When the judge throws the book at you be sure to catch it so you can use the paper for fig leaves. The fine is usually 30 days in jail with no clothes . Good luck.

If you can come up with the money over a period of time, the court may be willing to accept that. Speak to the court clerk's office and explain the situation. They may delay the court case for a few weeks, or if you are going to plead guilty, they may make arraingements for payment. This depends on your court system, but most can work with you.

the park is a public area so you can not use that to defend yourselves
you live together or you have a place to live, so you can not state that for your help
you were not drumk
so, it looks like you knew what you were doing at the consequences.
I think that it will be worst if don`t go to the court.
In the same time, your parents may understand this and just leave it and help you out.
You need somebody to give you the moeny for that, so the parents are the only one that could help.

Go to court when you are ordered and tell the judge exactly what happened. I doubt it will help much, but the judge may show leniency. Do not tell them you can't afford a fine because they don't care. If you cant do the time then don't do the crime. Why were you naked in a place where there are kids present anyway. Pretty good judgment you have there.
