The way to deal with this is to deal with the anxiety. See a doctor or therapist soon.

ME TOOO!!!!!!!
1. Find out what is causing them.
2. Don't let anyone blow you off about them. IT IS NOT NORMAL!!!
3. I have had heart palpitations for several years and literally just this week have some possibilities as to what is causing mine. (either my severe hormone imbalance (www.sensiblehealth.com) or parasite infestation (www.humaworm.com). Yeah, gross right? But it's true...over 90 percent of people have it, don't know it and it makes them super sick. Docs aren't taught in med school about the U.S. parasite problems..only those in developing countries. Rediculous, huh? Don't waste your time thinking a doc can test you...there are over 1000 pests...they test for about 45 of them with a 20 Percent accuracy rate. Know the symptoms and find a doctor that really does work WITH you...not AT you. You can get them from drinking water, being in the river,a lake, from meat you eat, pets, and literally any site that is touched. A couple weeks of herbs can make you a new person...Read the testimonies on humaworm.com. It's crazy.

Hey girl....I have suffered severe anxiety!!! I had it on going for about a yr. I couldnt sleep, I felt at times that my throat was closing on me, I had chest pains, I felt tingling in my head(almost like if there was water in my head, I felt at times that I would faint, had heart palpatations, felt scared alot of the times, and over nothing. I dont know how many times that I went to see a doctor because i thought that I was dying. They sent me home everytime to tell me that nothing was wrong. 90% of the things we worry about never actually happen, its the things that we dont worry about that do. Maybe you should see a doctor (I wish I would have) Try to take it easy. And maybe you Ambien is causing alot of the sleeplessness. I know its supposed to help with sleep but in some ppl it could make it worse. I hope everything gets better for you. Try to enjoy your life. All the time I spent worrying about nothing, I could have been having a good time with my family, my kids and that time was wasted. i had to pull myself out of my anxiety/depression. No one else can do it for you but you can get some help. Take care and God bless

there are drugs you can take to curb anxiety, but really, the best solution is to try and pinpoint what in your life is causing so much anxiety and take care of that problem, cause it will affect more than just your ability to sleep well, if it is left unchecked.
i had this problem for a while where my chest always hurt and my heart would beat so loudly it kept me awake. it was horrible, but eventually, when the problems in life went away, so did the insomnia and anxiety.

First, let me suggest that you go to a Dr. as I don't know your situation.
I used to have symptoms similar to the ones you're describing every time finals came around. The palpitations finally scared me enough that I went to urgent care, and discovered that they were caused by Starbucks. The caffeine in the espresso mocha mints I was drinking to stay awake caused all my symptoms. So if you are drinking a lot of coffee (or getting caffeine in other ways) try giving it up and see if that helps.

You need to see a doctor for a full evaluation. There are medications that can reduce/stop palpitations, and you need to know the cause of your current condition. Could be you have mitral valve prolapse (these symptoms fit). In the meantime, cut out all caffiene (coffee, tea, soda, chocolate) and nicotine if you smoke. Good luck to you.

Wow. You sound just like my sister, she had the exact same thing. She went to see every doctor she could.. and guess what they told her? She was putting too much stress on herself. All she needed to feel better was to RELAX!! So, the problem here is not your heart palpitations. Its your anxiety. You need to address your anxiety issues before anything else.. and after you take care of that, everything else should fall away! Good luck, and please take care of yourself!

I get heart palpitations, and chest pain as well. i went to the hospital countless times, and what i was basically told is to stay away from stress {easier said than done}, caffeine, cig. smoke, and stuff like that. they didnt give me any meds or anything. so... dont worry, you're not alone with that. im right with ya.

That's something to talk about with a psychologist. In the meantime, a yoga class could help by teaching you how to control your breathing, but the underlying cause of your stress would still need to be dealt with.

Is your heart beating too fast or just very hard? If it is too fast you can try holding your breathe and bearing down like during a BM, that resets mine. Or drinking a glass of extremely cold ice water. See a doctor.
