My son is turning 1 soon. Doctor said that he should be able to start drinking cow (whole) milk. However, my son doesn't like to drink anything cold. He likes it when it is luke-warm.

How should I heat up whole milk to luke-warm temperature without having to buy any special stuffs? Is it safe for him to drink luke warm milk? Is the nutritient value still good for him?

How long can the luke warm milk stay out without refrigeration? Can we reheat the luke warm milk if it turns cold or have been re-refrigerated?

I'd just put it in a sippy cup with no valve and put it in a pan about halfway up with water that has come to a simmer. Just leave it in there a minute or two. Otherwise, and not to be rude, but he's going to have to learn how to drink cold milk one of these days. I don't think teachers take kindly to special requests in kindergarten. Might as well start him now -- or at least room temp milk. Yes, it's safe to drink warm milk. That's what hot chocolate (the real stuff) is made from, that's what we grew up drinking when we couldn't sleep, that's what happens to milk when you put it in coffee -- so lots of people drink warm milk every day. I just wouldn't leave it out too long. I think the nutrient level is still good for him, but may break down some with the heating, especially if you use microwave. Good luck.

Don't heat it up in the microwave. It will not heat evenly and could cause burns. Heat up a small pot with water. Once it starts boiling, take it off the heat and put the bottle in the pot standing up for about a minute. Shake the bottle and make sure it is a good temperature. Or you can just run the bottle under hot water for a few minutes. I would only leave it out for about an hour tops. And as for refrigerating after it's been heated, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't.

well you can stick it in the microwave for 30-45 seconds or you can put the filled bottle with out a lid in a pan full of water on the stove and heat it that way or you can just take hot water put it in a large cup and put in the bottle and let it sit for a bit. yes it is fine to drink warm milk, it doesn't change the nutrient at all.

a good rule is about an hr and a hlf 2 hrs, for it to be left out but there is no specific time, and yes you can heat refrigerate and reheat again..... justa make sure that you put the lid on and shake it to mix the milk so you dont get hot spots always check the temp of the milk on your wrist or inner elbow.

stop heating the milk, you should have been done with that practice at about 7 or 8 months. Now he'll be requesting warm milk for the rest of his life. I'm guessing this is your first. As long as the milk doesn't smell or taste bad it may be fine. But to be safe I'd just start giving him cold milk from now on and don't give in if he refuses it. He'll drink it when he wants it bad enough. Would you drink milk that has been out on the counter for a long time, I know I wouldn't, I usually just throw it away if I'm not sure .

yes, most people start the transition at around 12 months. I suggest gradually switching ie, 1/4 whole milk and 3/4 formula, and so on until it's all whole milk. Some babies tummies can't handle it yet so take your time.

I would not reheat milk, and it shouldn't sit longer than 30 minutes, especially if it's been heated. It can curdle surprisingly fast.

You can heat it in the microwave, but you have to be careful to shake or stir it VERY well - otherwise it will have "hot spots." The safest, albiet more inconvenient, way to heat would be to sit the bottle in a pan of boiling water.

All children balk at cold milk at first but he needs to get used to it. Fix his bottle, then let it sit on the counter for about 1/2 hr...OR you can put the filled bottle in a pan of hot running water for a few minutes.

Yes it's safe as long as you don't leave the milk out forever and let it go bad. NO difference in nutrients.

At one year old I hope he is OFF the bottle....and on a sippy cup or real cup. He's past being a 'baby' and is entering toddler stage so help him 'grow up'

He's going to have to learn to drink it cold sometime. I would pour it, leave it out for 5-10 minutes so the chill is gone and give it to him.
