Ok I have been a hairstylist for 9 years now and I am suppose to name some big expensive product, umm NO.. get a heavy conditioner i like suave humectant its just like nexxus but like a buck fifty its great start using it. Once a week or so cover her hair in conditioner put a cap on it and let it sit for like 10 min and wash out.. it will help alot and will help with future breakage .. Also you can always try a vo5 hot oil treatment but im biast to a conditioner treatment..

the better thing to do is stop pulling it too tightly first and secondly try rolling it with foam rollers you know the little pink or black ones, i am assuming that she is an african american child this happens a lot when parents start perming the childs hair much earlier than needed if this is what you have done fact is that you cannot stop doing it because letting the new growth get too long forces the ends to break off and become even more damaged but try using perms for children only like pcj for children is great oh another thing clip her ends one good time it may be broken in some areas short here long there whatever the case may be but the ends have to be clipped this way the next time they start splitting you can catch them early and it wont be as bad. biosilk has a great line for conditoning and hair restructuring it is costly but well worth it they have a deep conditioner apply it and let it stay for about 15 minutes this allows the hair to fully absorb the conditioner and rinse it with warm water after it is fully removed rinse with cold water so that the hair cuticle will close completely, style the hair with a big comb and brush and roll it while it is wet 1, 2, 3, how ever many pony tails you choose and roll them afterwards braiding it and twisting causes extra breakage just roll it sit her under the dryer or let it air dry when it dries remove the rollers and seperate the curls this stops breakage and helps in the growth process as well let me know how it goes... good luck!!!

Any good deep conditioning hair creme, leave in or not will work, but if you want to try a good old home remedy, then use my all time fav... Mayonnaise.. or Miracle Whip salad dressing... it has oil, eggs, and other great natural ingredients that will moisturize, soften and add shine and body to the hair! You will want to wrap a warm wet towel around her head with a plastic wrap around the hair.. let it sit for about 30 minutes! Then when you are ready to rinse it out, use some diluted lemon juice or vinegar! Some people also use flat beer for shine and body! IT all works!
There are so many things you can do to help restore the hair to it's moisturized and beautiful state... so just see what works best for you and your daughter... and get a good trim every other month! Even if you want her hair to be long and beautiful, it still has to have a good trim for upkeep... hair grows about 1/2 in. a month on average... so it will be ok to trim whatever needs to be done to keep it healthy! Take care ...

one of the best oil treatments that I know is using Vitamin E,
1000 iu. capsules. you have to cut open the capsules and comb the oil through her hair making sure to get the ends real well, Then have her put a plastic bag, (A vegetable bag from your local grocery store will work great.) over her hair and wrap it around her head, then if your using a blow dryer you need to blow dry her hair for about 1/2 hour. or a regular hair dryer for 20 min. once you have heated her hair take off the bag and wash her hair real well, and use your favorite conditioner and dry. you will have put the natural shine back into her hair, it will be more manageable and soft.. it works great, I have been using this treatment since I was about 9 or so, and I am 45. great for all ages. some need less oil then others depending on their hair type.

Try Loreal Vive Sham & Con. for split ends and damaged hair or their thickening line. Deep condition with Africa's Best Hair Mayonnaise and then use either Organic Root Stimulator Carrot Oil or the Profectiv line Mega Growth to grease scalp. With those two u should alternate every week. You don't want the hair to get used to a product. It won't have the same effect after a while. Apply lightly.

It might help to use a good leave-in conditioner. I use one made by BioSilk that I get at the salon. It's rather expensive at $20 for a bottle, but (with shoulder length hair) that bottle will last me for a whole year. I pour a dime sized dollup onto my palm and apply it all over my hair. Then I blow dry as usual. It really helps.

Jergen's lotion? My daughter's friend came over and had forgotten her hair treatment and she asked if she could use my lotion. It made her hair soft and ringletty.
Also, I don't know alot about hair types, but mine gets intolerably dry living in desert country, so I usually hybernate for a weekend and drown my hair with actual olive oil, not the treatment in the hair section, but the stuff you buy in the grocery aisle. I wait 42 hours and then rinse it out, and Wow!

Mayonnaise..
it leaves your hair soft and shiney. just spread it all over her head and then wrap it up with some seran-wrap for about 15 mins.
also, make sure she isn't washing her hair everyday if her hair is naturally dry. it is OKAY to wash your hair every other day!
