Yes I definitely would, and plan to. Why? Because when I die, I will no longer need them. Why let them go to waste when there are people in the world that are waiting on a list for new organs. People whose life depends on a transplant to live.

I most certainly would! I wouldn't be alive if someone hadn't donated a kidney to me 18 years ago! When my husband passed away 2 years ago, we donated what tissues we could, it made a lot of people's lives better (at least 50 that I'm aware of!). As for people who think it's against God's plan-remember that the Bible says that we shall become whole again in Heaven (on second thought, maybe they're afraid because they're going the other way! lol). It's a personal choice in the end, just make sure your family knows your wishes. It doesn't matter if you carry a donor card, if your family doesn't agree-it won't happen. And, for you ignorant putzes who think that physicians let people die just to get their organs.....do you live in a Stephen King novel?! How can you be so incredibly ignorant and stupid at the same time! I've worked in emergency medicine for almost 20 years, and we would NEVER, I repeat, NEVER, allow someone to die just for their organs and tissues. Paranoid much? And, no, we don't let people die for lack of insurance either!!!! Good thing you brain tissue donations aren't perfected yet-of course, you all would be disqualified!

I am divided on this issue. On one hand, it seems noble and proper to say yes. However, I know that there is big money to made by health care providers in the area of organ donation. My fear would be that doctors would not do all they could to save me (or a loved one) if they knew I was an organ donor. For example, my husband's brother suffered a brain injury and was in a coma.
After only 3 days they were pushing the family to take him off the respirator and donate his organs. They refused, and he eventually recovered with only some mild impairment. So, the whole thing is somewhat murky in my mind.

I am a full organ donor...that means everything that is still in working order (even my skin) will go to someone else if they need it...also, because I am a full donor, I can donate my body after the organs have been removed to the medical university and they will do research and study what is left in classes, then the university cremates it when they are done and my family doesn't have to pay for anything

Definitly. Have you ever seen the movie John Q? His son would have died had someone not donated their organs. This happens everyday in real life. My 13 year old cousin got a kidney transplant 2 days ago...and it may have saved his life.
I don't see why someone WOULDN'T donate their organs. Why do they need them if they're dead? I think it would be amazing to know that after I'm gone I can still be helpful to someone on earth!

And I don't believe it's true up there where it says that if you are a donor they will not try as hard to save you. It's their job to save you...I highly doubt doctors want anyone that they are working on to die. That wouldn't benefit the doctor at all! Doctors look bad when someone under their supervision dies....so...I highly doubt that's a factor in any organ donors death.

Any of my organs that are still useable I want to donate. (including my eyes)

I don't need my organs when I am dead so I would love to save another life or allow someone else to have a full life with my organs.

I will be living on in someone else which i think is the coolest thing ever.

Yes! After a person is dead or on deaths door, there is no reason why not to donate their organs. You certainly won't need them anymore.
If you haven't been able to donate time, money, effort for causes during your lifetime, donating organs would be a good way to help those who need organ transplants.
I've even considered donating my entire body to science or to a medical college. Many medical colleges are in need of cadavers for research and as a learning tool.
There are thousands of people who would be helped not only from organ transplants, but also for skin grafts, corneal transplants, stem cells, and multiple other ways your body could help.
It seems to me a better use to allow your body to be used for science than letting it rot in the ground of little use for anything except the insects.
Also, I would rather the doctors would "let" me die and use my body for good, than let me lie in a vegetative state indefinitly. The only ones who profit from a person lying in a coma are the hospitals or care facilities. Wouldn't it be a better use of time and money to allow yourself to be used for transplants?

I will when I die. I don't need them anymore. Harvest everything you can and use the rest for forensic entymology research. I think that the process of embalming is ghastly (in the literal sense of the word) and I like the idea of helping as many people (I forget what the estimate is but I know it's a lot) after my death

I might make one exception though . . . that whole face transplant thing really weirds me out. I can't help thinking how it would feel to be walking down the street and see the face of someone you knew who died six months ago. It's hypocritical of me I know but . . . yeah I'm just not comfortable with it.

Of course. If I could help a sick person get better, why shouldn't I? If I were sick, I would want the same done for me. When I die, I plan to donate all my useful organs, and help a dying, unfortunate person in need. That's the right thing to do. It is what Jesus would do.

I would donate my organs because at the point I could donate them they do no good for me, but can give a good quality of life (or a better quality of life) to somebody else.
