I probably shouldn't answer a question that includes me especially given the answer I've got but hey, can't win 'em all.
I've plenty of questions that have dwindled in obscurity, but what I have noticed a lot of the 'longer-term' regulars have in common is
a) they have control over spelling and grammar (well, to a degree of course, only FSM is perfect)
b) they usually take the time to carefully word/craft their questions
c) sometimes they are just very funny

High school type clique activity? You thumbs up your friends, it may no be fair but that is the way it goes.
I like thumbs. I wish everyone used them more then it would be less biased to the few who do.
PS I've given all those guys the thumb when I agree with them too. Just gave Jim one now. Beats giving the finger.

I seldom pay attention to Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down, so I don't know. To check on these requires going back to previous answers, which is an unproducive chore.
