That is a stup...ignoran....stupid question!

Stupid=knowing better/ refusing knowledge
Ignorant= not knowing any better

Well, I think the reason for this is quite plain. They both yield the same results. In fact, it is difficult to even choose which one is better than the other in this case.

It is written " My people perish for lack of knowledge".

"Lack of knowledge" is not knowing - and that is 'ignorance'. It is just as worse as being stupid.

OMG - I was raised in this freaky area of Wyoming, where they use the word "ignorance" as a synonym for "rude." Good god, it drives me crazy.

Edit - sorry I had to revisit this. They also pronounce it "IG-nert." As in "That Earl is so ignert he put his elbows on the table."

~~~ rahul,,,, Ironically, the answer is found in your very question. Ignorance. Ignorance of the fact that "stupid" infers intelligence (IQ) and "ignorance" infers knowledge.
