I don't believe it.

Yes, it is. I'm in the nursing field. We had a guy that did just that. You can miss vital parts of the brain that when injured cause enough trauma to be deadly. Surviving a gunshot would like that would almost certainly cause severe deficits later like hemiparalysis( to just one side of the body ) or even vegetative state. Not a really great outcome. But it can happen. Even with larger caliber firearms.

Depends on many factors. Size of the weapon, age of the round. Angle of entry. It is possible. Saw a guy in the hospital once who complained of a headache. Xrays showed he had been shot 5 times in the back of the head with a .25 cal. None of the rounds penetrated his skull. Turns out he was robbed a few days earlier and thought he was just hit in the back of the head.........

It is possible. A friend of mine in high school shot himself in the head with a .25 while he was high. The bullet is so small and underpowered, it split the skin on his head but, bounced off his skull. (It was point blank but, fired at an angle much less than straight.) It left an ugly burn scar.

it happens a lot. I've seen a fellow Paratrooper shot through the temple, with the bullet exiting beneath his eye. That was from an AK47.

Was he lucky? Yes.

the type of bullet makes a difference.

there are some where they explode inside the body, those are probably not survivable.

bullets that go in cleanly and out the other side without blowing your head apart on the exit are probably survivable.

Yes, this is indeed possible. There have been people shot through the brain, without permanent damage, but this is almost non existent.

Wow! Then your friends cousin is a living miracle. Maybe if it was a small enough caliber gun and the bullet just happened to miss the important parts of the brain . . . but I'm doubtful myself.

It depends on the gun. It is *possible*. But it is very
very unlikely. And even less likely to survive this without
any significant brain damage.
