DOES IT HURT???

All piercings hurt at least a little, but to what extent depends on who does the piercing and your tolerance for pain.

Very skilled piercers are quick and have lots of practice to where pain is minimized and the process is done with very quickly. It should be tolerable regardless.

What you need to keep in mind is that the area will be a little sore for a few days to a few weeks and that its VERY important that you take care of your piercing and make sure that if you have problems that you contact your piercer immediately. The piercing doesn't hurt, but getting an infection or having a rejecting piercing does.

Edit: Dancerchick...NO reputable piercer will ever use a numbing cream or injected anesthetic. There really is no need to numb any piercing since the pain is something that goes with and usually odd amounts of pain are a sign that something could be wrong, if you can't feel it, you'll never know if there is a problem until too late. If you really can't handle the pain and HAVE to ask about numbing products, you aren't ready at all for a piercing.

it all depends on your tolerance for pain. personally, none of the piercings i got really hurt. in fact, the thing that hurt me more than the actual needle, is the clamp they use to hold your skin.

the pain is minimal and lasts about 2 seconds. close your eyes, take a deep breath and let it out. you'll be fine.

after you get the piercing is when any pain will come. since it is your belly button, it will be very sore. you will notice just how much you move your waist when you feel discomfort. make sure your jeans or any bottoms you wear do not touch it for it will irritate it. clean it often, dont put ointment on it (especially neosporin).

good luck!

mine hurt horribly, I have a few tattoos and I always say I would much rather go through getting a tattoo than a piercing. Maybe the guy didn't know what he was doing or something cause it hurt for weeks and was extremly painful getting done. I would really like you to consider though if it's something you really want, don't let the pain deter you. It would be worth it in the end.

I had my navel pierced about 8 or 9 years ago, and from what I remember, it was more of a pinch than anything. Everyone's pain tolerance is different though. Just make sure if you are planning on getting your navel pierced, that you have it done by a pro and not to do it yourself. Good luck!

I know this is not what you want to hear but all pain is relative! It is up to the individual if it is painful. Personally non of my piercings hurt but i have a very high pain threshold. Good Luck anyways if you get one done.

It didn't hurt when I got it done, it did hurt a lot after I worked at a pawn shop and was always lifting tv's and stereos, didn't help that the counters were even with my piercing so I was always hitting it. I took mine out while I was pregnant and if it would of closed I wouldn't of had it repierced, my tatoo hurt less during and after!!

When i had mine done i found that it woz too quick to feel any pain whilst having it done, im not trying to scare you out of it or anythin but afterwards i nearly fainted (could have something to do with being petrified of injections and needles!!) and i found that for a couple of days i couldnt bend down and couldnt lay on my front (and i dont recommend touching it!) but it doesnt hurt as much as everyone says!!

hope this helps

It really all depends on your pain tolerance and who does it. Mine hurt a little bit. More like getting your belly pinched really good. That's about it.
Hope this helps and good luck!

It's exciting, if you're looking forward to it, then it'll be fun. Your adrenaline will be going and the anticipation will make it hurt less. Make sure you do some research on the tattoo or body piercing parlor. If they are good guys and they see you have nerves, they'll be or SHOULD be a little more compassionate. I think it's sexy and cute. Have fun and hope it comes out ok.
