Im bipolar and un-medicated.. It pretty much sucks and you hate your life, lol.. Seriously though, if you get on meds you will eventually have to change every so often just because your body gets used to it and it no longer works.. I'm only 18 and I've been on about 4 or 5 different meds since I was 16... but the meds to help to an extent.

You can deal with it but not ver successfully as you will have the ups and downs as your body wills The illness is an illness becasue its not something you decide to do. Its an imbalance or a brain disorder. You can try all the natural ways to make life as tolerable as possible but when your illness kicks in and you get the feelings to either be dpressed or to do stupid impulsive wild things you will have to suffer hose consequences afterwards. Denial is probably your worst enemy here. Everyone has problems or challenges-you are no different You can get ahead of those who ignore their problems. You can be the winner by calling all your help into action and getting your life more under your direction and less under the direction of the whims of your illness.

You cannot treat bi-polar without medication. You may think so for a while, but eventually you will have to take them or you will go completely off your head, and do very stupid things. There is no herbal remedy. Lithium is the first drug of choice, but there are others. it is a chemical imbalance that cannot be changed without another chemical. Remember you have to live with and around other people. They will find you very hard to deal with at times if you are not medicated, and you may end up in hospital. Do yourself a favour and go for medication.

1st, get a psychiatrist. They will help you determine how severe your bipolar is. How treatable it is. And how to manage it. They will probably start you on medication, then refer you to a psychologist. From there you can begin working on how to manage it with the goal of getting off the medication eventually.
Remember, except in the most sever of cases, medication is to temporarily stabilize you until you can develop appropriate non medication management. A lot of it will depend on your motivation and hard work. Most people who stay on meds put in little to no effort of their own. It's just easier to rely on the meds to do the work.

Why would you want to suffer like that? Or make those around you suffer because of your behavior. YOUR illness effects everyone you come in contact with. I can say that because I suffer from depression...I can understand your frustration with synthetic medicines. Those made me sicker than the depression did....
TRY an alternative!!! I found a GREAT herbal antidepressant and have NO SIDE EFFECTS whatsoever.
Visit your local herb store and I am sure they can help you.
P.S. I was a complete skeptic and herb 'hater' before I tried it. Now I know better.
BEST OF LUCK! What's most important is that YOU feel better!

I'm not sure there is a way....bipolar is a chemical imbalance in your brain, the medication evens this out. Hey it could be worse, if you have to pop pills the rest of your life, so be it, at least your alive!

YOU DON'T! I know the medications aren't fun, and the side effects can be awful. However, bipolar needs to be treated with medication. Also, the medication needs to be taken at all times. It will help with the manic episodes which can be much worse than the medication itself. See your doctor. Please!!!

If you truely have Bipolar, you can-not. You need medication. But some poeple are mis-diagnosed and then you don't.
