This is of course difficult to answer without actually seeing your putting stroke but here are a few recommendations. If you are leaving putts short and you feel like you are decelerating through impact there is a great drill you can do to combat this and should clear up the issue for you. The drill is the "No Takeaway" drill. Basically set up a 12 - 18 footer with 5 or 10 balls on the practice green and roll putts at the hole with ZERO backswing. This will be super awkward at first but it works very quickly in teaching you the feel of an accelerating putter head.
Another key component of great putting and more often than not the culprit behind leaving putts short of the hole is what golf pros call "Centeredness of Impact" If you are not making very consistent impact at the center of the clubface then you will experience a diminished MOI or "Moment of Inertia" This means that the kinetic energy that has been created by you backstroke is not effectively transferred to the ball. Off center hits on a putterface, just like an iron or driver face do not travel as far as impact on the "sweetspot". To check how your doing in this area, just pick up some impact tape from your local proshop and hit some putts, you will quickly see whether you are loosing distance through inconsistent contact or not. Many manufacturers make what are known as "high-MOI" putters now that help combat this problem.

always hit your putts harder than it looks, because even if you do miss and the ball goes two feet past at least you know the roll of the putt back the way,

it doesn't matter how short the or long the putt is, or how fast the green is, you must accelerate the putterhead into the back of the ball to stand any chance of holing out on a consistant basis, as a simple rule always ensure that your throwswing is the same as your backswing, then concentrate on smoolthly accelerating the putter through the ball, A smooth continuous action is essential, no matter what your style of strock or grip you use. The pressure of trying to get the ball in to that tiny hole can easily cause you to tense up or rush your shot. take your time

i think the problem you might have is, you tend to decelerate in the downswing and jab the ball with almost no follow-throgh. when you start doing that you can forget abouth the ball even getting near the hole

hope this helps

Hey, wassup?

I watch the Golf Channel all the time and I've learned this: You shouldn't accelerate through the golf ball while putting. If you have a longer putt, you just make a longer backswing. Make sure you make the follow through the same length as the back swing. This will make you more consistent.

It also makes your stroke smoother because you are relying more in gravity and momentum and the weight of the putter than your own muscles to strike the ball.

Think about it like this: If you hit a normal lob wedge 90 yards, and you're only 50 yards out, you just make a shorter swing, I doubt you take a long, slow swing.

We have a match vs Northgate today at Boundary Oak, we're gonna kill them.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, today is the ast day of my golf membership. :(

I guess I'll never be able to play with you unless I make varsity next year or junior year and we have a match.

See you.

The follow through is as important as the takeaway, and that goes for ALL swings of your golf clubs.

take the putter head as far back as you take it forward - pro told me that one a couple of years ago. It has stopped me from leaving them short!
