Stay with 32 bit for now.
64 bit is nice but more beneficial for specialized PCs than for the average home unit.
I would advise you to wait before jumping into Vista. I have it on a dual boot PC & lost interest & patience with it a long time ago.
It is full of issues ... from compromised security due to granting administartor rights to any installion file (run as administrator) to mistaking some third party applications as tampering attempts with system files & locking your PC ... read this :

To compomising your privacy on your own PC :
Vista's legal fine print raises red flags

It's more fluff than substance right now. A better search engine & nice GUI but mostly just bells & whistles. Many apps that run on XP will not run on Vista.... AND Vista likes to tell you what media files you can & cannot own or play.... great for Time Warner & Sony but no benefit to you & I.
Go with XP Media Center Edition.

64-bit is a thing of the future. Very few programs can utilize the power of a 64-bit processor. Buy the 32-bit version now and you'll be fine.
P.S. The 32-bit and the 64-bit version are on the same Vista Ultimate OEM DVD. If you have a 64-bit processor, if will ask what version you want to install. If you change your mind down the road, you can go back and install the other version.

i think of its basically a hazard in case you have the domicile windows Xp reinstallation cd. Or, it rather is a hazard to partition your stressful stress with 2 working platforms. once you do this, it fairly is going to ask you each and every and every time you swap on your laptop no remember if to load Vista of Xp

The 64 bit version is meant for 64 bit processors like your x2 processor, but I don't know how good it is or if it's even out yet. I have heard that the xp 64 bit version is buggy, so you might want to wait for the fallout first.
