One pound is 3,500 calories. If you want to lose two pounds a week, you have to consume 7000 calories less than you use. Activity burns calories. No one can tell you how what amount you should eat because we have no idea about your activity level or your metabolism, which is the rate at which your burn calories. One gram of fat hs 9 calories. One gram of protien or carbohydrate has about 4-5. So, you can eat twice the weight in carbs and protein as compared with fats, and still stay within the same caloric range.

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

Forget about amount of calories for a minute and start thinking about source of calories. Man made sugars and bleached foods(white bread) are a no-no. They jack up your yeast levels and cause your pancreas to become clogged which makes it produce vast amounts of insulin causing excessive storage in fat cells and eventually diabetes.
Elimination of an overpopulation of yeast in your digestive system is easy and affordable. Cottage cheese, Yogurt, Buttermilk, Cream Cheese, Sour Cream and Kombucha Tea all have friendly bacteria which will help rebalance the bacteria and yeast levels which must be pretty near 50/50 in order for your body to maintain weight properly and digest nutrients fully. And stay away from processed sugars and white flour products!
Hope this helps.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!
