You'll need to contact the company that keeps the records for the chip that your dog has. I agree that you may be better off talking to someone directly and then double check that the information was updated by either calling back or going on-line.

If you're not sure which company, contact the vet or whoever implanted the chip. Or you should have the information in the receipt from when they were implanted.

As a last resort you can go to a vet who has a scanner, but there are two different frequencies of chips and depending on the reader the facility has, it may not pick up the read.

If you dog is registered with the AKC you can add the microchip info to their registration as well.

Look on the paperwork you were given with the dog/chip It should tell you the brand, it will also include at the VERY least a phone number to contact with new info. My dogs have 24 hour Pet Watch and I have an online "account" where I can go in and edit my info and even include photos of my dog so even if you're not moving having the "account" is a good idea.

It depends on the brand of chip. The most common is Home Again. If you have the paperwork from when the dog was chipped, there should be info on how to get it changed. If not, call the vet or shelter that inserted the chip. They keep records of all dogs they chip. You can make changes via the website.

Contact the microchipping company that made the microchip, there are a handful of different ones but most can be done online.

Do not depend on the website.

Talk to someone and ask them to send you the computer updated information. If you do not receive updated information within ten business days call them again and let them know who you spoke with before. Remember its not their pet and not everyone that works with pets cares about your loved one the way you do. It may take a little more time but you want to be sure everything is handled properly.

Do not rely on a receptionist at the vet to transfer your information or a shelter worker to transfer it you go directly to the source yourself. You call the same number the animal control officer would call if he pickedup your pet.

Yes-if you have a Home Again chip go to www.homeagainid.com to change your info. I'm sure other brands have sites also. Vets probably will not do it for you.

If you received a certificate of registration with the chip there should be a form on there for you to change the address details.

I would contact the manufacturer of the chip and ask them how to do that.
