Well, that brite tiger is one dim bulb. The data he just barfed all over this page cost Dan Rather his job
George W. Bush never saw action but was an Air National Guardsmen. He flew Jet trainers for 3 years.
Some will tell you 'he dodged the draft', others will say, 'so did Clinton'. Regardless, I can't fly a jet fighter and neither can 99.9% of the world, so take it however you wish. He wore the uniform and proficiently piloted jet fighters. I'm impressed by that, even if he didn't shoot down North Vietnamese.

No. He even checked the box that said he would not serve overseas-there was an option. But Al Gore did, as a journalist. 80 journalists have been killed in Iraq.
Gore opposed the Vietnam War, but chose to volunteer anyway though he could have avoided serving in Vietnam in a number of ways. A friend of the Gore family reserved a spot for him in the National Guard, which he turned down. Gore has stated that his sense of civic duty compelled him to serve.
John Edwards was too young for Vietnam. After Vietnam, the military rejected those who wanted to signup-there were simply too many already in the service.
Clinton was a Rhodes scholar-Bush wasn't close-a "C" average student.

No, he didn't, and there are many databases on the internet that show the disparity between Republicans and Democrats in this regard. A much higher percentage of Democratic politicans served in the military and many saw combat. Here's one partial list:

As for Clinton, he was against the Vietnam War as were many people during that time, and he avoided getting drafted. That's at least philosophically consistent, whereas people like Bush and Cheney claimed they supported the war but were unwilling to fight it. As always, it's the hypocrisy that rankles.

George W. Bush has never been within a 1000 mile radius of a war zone; so how could he have possibly seen combat?

NO NO NO NO NO. ARE YOU KIDDING???? HE DID COME UP MISSING OUT OF COMBAT THOUGH, For a whole year. Now that was nothing like McCain who was missing in combat for 6 months until we found he was a POW. Or nothing like Kerry who lost a leg in combat, or J. Kerry who patroled the Deltas killing sinpers and saving lives. Now he may have seen some combat when he was arrested for DUI once his Daddy got hold of him.

No. Bush claimed to support the Vietnam War, both during and after, but he made sure he was protected from the possibility of combat.
