Yes, your body needs all its available energy to fight the infectious organisms.

if the sickness is new and you can really feel your body fighting it... swolen glands, lots of drainage, aches and chills...then I'd think you'r body is using a lot of resources to fight the illness, and you want to support this fight. If you work out there is less energy remaining to fight the illness, and you could be sick longer. Give yourself a break.

If it's an ongoing cold that you've had all season, then skipping your workout really isn't going to help. You could probably still workout.

I think if you only have a cold it's ok to work out. Gauge how you feel. If you're feeling terrible, working out is certainly not going to make it better. If you feel well enough to work out, do it. Just don't push yourself too hard.

Found an article about this. Basically it indicates that if the symptoms are above the neck it's ok to take moderate exercise, otherwise steer clear until you're well-rested.

A workout will put more stress on your already sick respiratory system and delay your getting better. Give it a rest. Also don't share your germs with your friends at the gym. Your next workout, when you're well, will be a much better one.

I would skip working out at least for a couple days while your immune system works to fight off whatever is making you sick. Working out now might bring down your immune system a couple notches and will only prolong your illness.

Depends on the intensity level. You generally want to get as much rest as possible. But mostly you want to have consideration for those around you. What if you get them sick? What if the situation was reversed?

Well of course everyone would recommend laying in bed drinking soup. But when you have to go to the store or take a quick walk dont you feel better?

When you work out , or just keep moving like your not sick , you feel better and you actually get better faster.

So its not bad , it actually helps you.

if you must take it slow ... some people's tolerance is higher and sometimes missing the work out only makes it worse.. if you're under doctors care however.. he'd probably tell you to rest for a bit..
