I am interested in buying a Cavalier puppy for my family. The one I have called about is 14 weeks old and has been neutered due to a hernia. Are these dogs usually laid back and not jumpy and snappy like some small dogs? I want a breed that will be easy to train and good natured. I know a lot depends on the puppy, but I also know that the breed has certain characteristics. Anyone with experience - please let me know!! Thank You!

These little dogs want to please. They are intelligent enough to understand what you want and therefore are usually easy to train and respond well to gentle obedience training. They are said to be naturally well behaved and get along well with other dogs and non-canine pets. Cavalier's love people and need lots of companionship to be happy. They should not be left alone all day.
they are most comfortable when their master is in sight, and stress big-time when the master is away..
If you are a working owner, your Cavalier will need day-care.
The key to getting a Cavalier is to make certain that you have found a good breeder..that genetic testing has been done on parents..Ask for referrences, and contact former puppy buyers..You will learn a lot from their former buyers.

My sister owns two and I've been around people who breed them a lot. They are gentle, easy to train, affectionate and very people friendly. They are also not big barkers, which is great. They are no more hyper than any other puppy and it varies from puppy to puppy. One of my sister's is very laid back and the other one is very active. They are awesome little dogs.

I have golden retreivers and the cavaliers are like little goldens in their personality. Love em.
