Actually, the Scriptures plainly teach that Christ would eventually "marry" in a figurative sense, in heaven. In fact, Jesus explicitly referred to himself as a "bridegroom".
(Mark 2:18-20) John’s disciples and the Pharisees practiced fasting. So they came and said to [Jesus]: “Why is it the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees practice fasting, but your disciples do not practice fasting?” And Jesus said to them: “...As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast. But days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them
The apostle Paul later explained that the entire congregation of anointed Christians constituted a composite "bride", promised to join Jesus when they are resurrected to heaven.
(2 Corinthians 11:2) For I [the apostle Paul] am jealous over you [anointed Christians] with a godly jealousy [against pursuits other than true worship], for I personally promised you in marriage to one husband that I might present you [anointed Christians] as a chaste virgin to the Christ.
The Scriptures often refer to Jesus as "the Lamb", and Revelation explains events before and after the 'marriage of the Lamb'. The chronological order Revelation indicates is:
1) the "bride" is prepared for marriage and wears a wedding dress;
2) Armageddon occurs;
3) the bride is revealed to be "New Jerusalem" (utterly replacing old earthly Jerusalem);
4) the marriage of the Lamb allows the "bride" to be called "the Lamb's wife"; and then
5) Jesus' bride of 'New Jerusalem' is shown to be composed only of Christians who lived during and after the apostles.
1) (Revelation 19:7,8) Let us rejoice and be overjoyed, and let us give him the glory, because the marriage of the Lamb has arrived [though not completed] and his wife has prepared herself. Yes, it has been granted to her to be arrayed in bright, clean, fine linen
2) (Revelation 19:11-19) I saw the heaven opened, and, look! a white horse. And [Jesus] the one seated upon it is called Faithful and True, and he judges and carries on war in righteousness. ...and the name he is called is The Word of God. ...he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords. ...And I saw the wild beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage the war with the one seated on the horse and with his army.
3) (Revelation 21:2) I saw also the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
4) (Revelation 21:9,10) [The angel] spoke with me and said: “Come here, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.” So he carried me away in the power of the spirit to a great and lofty mountain, and he showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven
5) (Revelation 21:10,14) So he carried me away in the power of the spirit to a great and lofty mountain, and he showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven... The wall of the city also had twelve foundation stones, and on them the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
All these events lead to blessings for mankind, and glory for God and Christ.

Strange, your assertion that Christ was not married and would not be a polygamist even spiritually. Your book, doesn't state either way on his marriage just as it is silence on a number of things like how he groomed his toenails or how he wore his hair... are we to assume that he didn't clip his nails and that they were extremely long?
Your book also states that he compared the whole church to his bride, so does that mean spiritually he's bi?
Paul was the one who was celibate and thought church leaders should be or have only one wife... and I believe he did say that was his opinion. Since he specified one wife, we can conclude that polygamy was accepted then and Christ very well could have had several wives.
It's sad when an atheist thinks a christian is being intolerant and not following the religion that they so little understand.

Pope Greogory VII in 1079 AD was the first to enforce celebacy and annul the marriages of all priests to prevent priests bequeathing lands and property to their children instead of the church. Spirituality had nothing to do with it. As usual money was the root of this evil.
At the same time the church doesn't "forbid" marriage. Nuns and priest renounce sex and marriage to devote themselves entirely to their ministry. No one is required to be a nun or a priest. The RCC considers 100% availability for duty a job requirement, but doesn't require anyone to seek the job.

It says if a man is tempted than he should marry so he doesnt lust after a woman. In the old testament it does mention certain things we shouldnt eat but Jesus came and he said its not what we put in our body its what comes out. God Bless!

Then don't become a Catholic. But remember, that was the only sort of Christianity in Europe for almost a thousand years.
