I can tell some older candy flavors like clove neco wafers, anise or liccorice jellybeans etc. Does gum base actually taste like this? If so, than I am going to go gnaw on some trees;p

Bubble gum flavor is it's own unique taste. I love the bubblegum flavor. I remember being little and having to take antibiotics when I was sick...the pink liquid that tasted like bubblegum. I loved it! lol

Well, let's see. I have tried a pretty big amount of really old kinds of candies, and I really don't think that bubblegum mimics anything. I think that is just a one of a kind flavor.

good question... got me curious too.

seems it does not mimick any one particular natural flavour but i was surprised to hear of the the actual flavours that help to make up the total flavour called: bubble gum.

this is all i could figure out but it makes sense to me and to you too, hopefully:

"So-called bubblegum flavour is a variable mixture of esters such as ethyl butyrate or ethyl acetate, essential oils such as wintergreen or orange, and flavoring chemicals such as ethyl maltol, maltol, benzaldehyde (cherry), and vanillin (vanilla). Most blends are proprietary and, thus, secret. No one chemical corresponds to bubblegum flavor."
