Numbers 31:14-35
"Moses was angry with the officers of the army—the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds—who returned from the battle.
"Have you allowed all the women to live?" he asked them. Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man."
The LORD said to Moses, "You and Eleazar the priest and the family heads of the community are to count all the people and animals that were captured. Divide the spoils between the soldiers who took part in the battle. The plunder remaining from the spoils that the soldiers took was 675,000 sheep, 33 72,000 cattle, 34 61,000 donkeys 35 and 32,000 women who had never slept with a man."
Hosea 13:16
The people of Samaria must bear their guilt,
because they have rebelled against their God.
They will fall by the sword;
their little ones will be dashed to the ground,
their pregnant women ripped open."

Arguments like this always astound me, but never surprise me.
From a rational Atheist perspective a person would look at this text then try to verify it with other historical documents and Archaeological evidence. Since no conclusive evidence has been found that these events transpired then this would lead a rational Atheist to conclude that the events described never happened and are simply fiction.
but since you being a emotional and non-rational Atheist you jump up and down and point to a 4,000 year old document as a reason why you do not believe in a Creator, something that has nothing to do with the Bible.
quite sad really, but again not surprising.

What you are doing is comparable to watching only the part of the movie Titanic where they are all dancing and having fun and claiming to the world that it is a romantic comedy. You can't watch 5 minutes of the middle of the movie and then try to guess and speculate what it is all about. If you take things out of context and never look at the entire picture than you can probably talk yourself into believing or not believing anything. Try reading all of the bible. Not just a few sentences pulled out of the middle to support your cause. Walking into the middle of the conversation and then pretending like you know what they are talking about just doesn't work.

Peace be with you,
As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness
Mose gave you not that bread from heaven,
For the laws were given by Moses, but truth and grace came by Jesus Christ.
All that ever came before me were thieves and robbers.
I come not to bring peace... If you do not hate mother brother you can not be my disciple.
To them that live be the sword shall die be the sword.
I judge no man, and my judgment is just.
Jesus is speaking of spiritual things, the flesh means nothing, it is but a house, the spirit it is life. The words I speak unto you they are spirit they are truth.
Do not follow Moses, Peter or Paul, then blame God, the Father, who art in heaven.
Blame the God of Moses, Peter and Paul.
Jesus said I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, didn't even mention Moses did he?

There are no "biblical atricities" God is Supreme the writer and author of our fate, He says he is only good, can see the beginning to the end and is perfect righteouness.
He says our time down here is nothing but a vapor, and that he loves us, has an expected end for us, and use's what He will for His good pleasure. He also says not to pretend that you know his ways, His ways are not our ways, just trust in Him and all will be known when we are with Him.
So many good things come from obedience to God, He turns what seems devastating to good, only He can do that.
So don't pretend to know Him, just know He knows you and loves you, don't try to search His mind.

Jews don't justify Biblical atrocities. We carry our entire tradition around with us -- even the parts that make us really uncomfortable -- because we are always learning from it. Our tradition also includes layers and layers of commentaries which disagree, respectfully but firmly, with that violence.
It's just that Christians took those earliest layers of our written tradition and ignore the rest. So everyone who isn't Jewish thinks that that is what we believe.
It's not.

I think you do not understand the Bible. You look only at events and not the circumstances surrounding the events or the things that God was accomplishing.
Read it again and look for the truth that is found therein not just the words.

You gotta read the Word in it's entirety to get a sense of who God is. Our God is a jealous God, we don't understand why He disciplines the way He does at times, but He is God.

Gotta read the Bible. In the OT- God told the people to leave their land & let the Jews move in. They refused so God judged them.
In the Luke passage- Jesus is using hyperbole to show that your allegience should first be to Jesus, not to your parents (remember he is the same one who said, "Honor your father & mother").
The issue is will you submit to God?
