I prefer Buddhism myself but surely you realize it's impossible to say which is better? What is the definition of "better" when describing religions?
Some Christians (fewer every decade) believe that only those who accept Christ as their saviour can go to heaven and everyone else will go to hell. Hindus and Buddhists don't accept Jesus therefore they are damned. But I've never met anyone in person who believes this.

All the religions are good to some and bad to some.
Depends on how you look at it.

I don't know why do Christians say Hindu and Buddgist would go to hell, may be because only those Christians know the way to hell.

Any religion that teaches unity and Love of all things will lead you back to the Creator. Personally, I think buddhism is closest to the truth of God.

Question 2 - People in power needed to control the general population. What better way than through fear of eternal damnation? Thus the false teachings of "hell". This led to another false teaching - separation, and the illusion of superiority.

In truth, All is One, all are equal, and God is pure Love. There is no hell, there is only separation FROM God and the eventual reunion with God.

The most important decision in choosing a religion is what god do you want to worship. Christians believe that Jesus is God with a capital G. They believe that Jesus was the Son of God and equal to God but that Jesus, the Holy Spirit and God the Father are actually one being. I know of no Christian that truly understands this but they all believe that it is true. Faith is believing without scientific evidence. However, even scientists show a lot of faith when they say they believe that the universe was formed from the big bang that was caused by a random spark in the nothingness of the pre-universe and that man came from the nothingness of an earth without life where life was created out of nothingness too.

each is better to the person who chooses one of them. there is no best religion. explore any faith that interests you. choose none at all if it's not a perfect fit.

christians say buddhists and hindus will go to hell for the same reason they say everyone else other than christians will go to hell: because they do not understand their personal spiritual truths in a way that is identical to that of a christian.

According to Jesus & the rest of the Bible, both religions are false.
It is like this:
God made a hole into the walls of heaven so that people could enter in and "be saved". The hole is Jesus, he is the way to eternal life. According to the Bible & Jesus.
It doesn't matter if you are Baptist, Hindu, Muslim, Catholic, Buddhist, agnostic, gay, straight, drunk, whatever- come to Jesus and be saved...God has provided a way!

It's wrong to believe that all religions are going to Hell, if they're not Christian. If they don't know Christ now, they will get their chance before judgement day, to allow them to accept Christ and mold their lives to His.

you answered your own question

"which is a BETTER religion?"

That's why we have sop many religious wars, attitudes like that.
Fighting over who's idea of GOD is better.
Who's church is better
who's way of belief is better

None of that should matter.
The message that EACH religion teaches, should be shared, and accepted.

christians seem to enjoy breeding hate and fear, as a means to get others into their cult, and thus, get their money.

the hell-threat seems to be their achilles heel...
